2009 Thrift Shopping Tracking Log - Big Daddy Audio
« on: January 06, 2009, 04:56:18 PM »
Big Daddy Audio's thrift purchases thus far:

3 headed floor lamp
3 framed pictures (of the framed pictures, two were bought for the frames themselves and the artwork was tossed)
The poster that was saved was a photo of Miles Davis from 1948
1 Revereware pot lid (1 qt size)

I've also passed on a bunch of stuff, because I'm saving for a car for my daughter.

I guess if Michael lets me, I'll just keep this running list (I'd appreciate responses, but just not here), and just add to it as I make the buy.

Brother, you can do anything you want!
I got an Underdog board game for .25 cents yesterday. It's in very good condition, has all the parts. Cookie found it but she's knows it's all me.

Bringing thrift shoppers from all over the galaxy together.

Happy Thrifting

Awesome game!  I love old board games.  The boxes are as great as the game itself.  I found this one a few months ago at the food bank thrift for a buck, it's a hoot!

Underdog and Mystery Date!

Yahtzee!

My sisters had Mystery Date - we got it at a tag sale up on the north shore (where all the money is/was).  They feared getting "Dan" as their mystery date because they thought he had pimples.

I never played the Underdog game.

I'm sure that is exactly the reaction the designers of the game were going for!  :D

Those are great games!  I was at a GW in Mesa a couple weeks ago and saw a woman with a Mystery Date game in her cart.  I was so tempted to hit her over the head, hide her behind the forest of halogen floor lamps, and make off with it.  Alas, I was able suppress my inner Mystery Date thief.

I loved Underdog as a kid and wore an Underdog pin on my jean jacket all through my college years.  That pin turned out to be a total guy-magnate and got me much male attention at bars and parties.  There's something about Underdog, ladies.  Of course, these days, I'd probably have to wear the entire game on my jacket to get any attention!

LOL!  Mystery Date!  Remember the episode of Friends where they were stuck at the beach house and they were playing Mystery Date?

The Mitsubishi turntable I have looks just like your "LT 20" except I don't remember it having woodgrain trim on the top, I thought the whole thing was silverish.  Its been put away for over 10 years.  I bought it thinking it was cool, but when I discovered it needed a new cartridge I just put it away.

I got it at the end of the day at a Ruritain (sp?) rummage sale.  I got the turntable, 2 milkglass hobnail dresser lamps, and some other junque that I don't remember all for $5.

Today I hit the Goodwill at 67th and Peoria.

1) GM factory car radio for my 1999 Venture LT (I hope it's an easy swap - mine still works but has liquid air freshener oil dripped on the buttons so they're hard to push and now two of the lights on the station select buttons are out) - $4.99
2) Van Halen "Right Here Right Now LIVE" double CD set - $2.99

It could be an LT-10.  I think I've seen those - just like mine but with a silver or gray plinth.

It'd be worth digging out.  They're good tables.

The radio went in with little trouble.  When it gets dark, which is pretty soon, I'll check for the internal illumination.

The only problem with the radio, as I see it, is that it doesn't allow for the "rear audio" controls to work.  Who cares?  The kids can listen to what I listen to - that's what we did when we were kids....

What luck you found the model of radio designed for your car!  I am always amazed by how many of "just the right things" show up at a thrift which is a store of random stuff.
