Thrifty Valentine's Decorating
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:07:57 PM »
Between the thrift store, an antique mall, and stuff I'd gotten long ago at a craft supply sales warehouse, I ended up decorating my diningroom for Valentine's Day. It was a bit gloomy after the Christmas decor went away, so I thought it needed something and went a little nuts.

Just figured you all might enjoy the thrifted 50s little Valentine's planter and other vintage stuff. It's amazing how far a $4 collection of vintage Valentines can go to make something look festive.

Nice job arranging the cards, that can be tricky & end just being a jumbled mess, but yours look very professional.  I found a big bag of old Valentine's Day cards at an estate sale for a buck but ended up selling them.  Old Christmas & Valentine Day cards do well on Ebay, so I have not been able to resist.  I do have some 1940's Easter Cards maybe I'll try displaying them at Easter.

I agree that it is gloomy when the Christmas decor goes away, especially for us in the Northeast who also have cold & dreary weather (& no yard sales).

Once again TSR, your decorating ability dazzles and amazes.  You are truely an inspiration!  I love the valentine-girl.

TSR, it is just fabulous! Your room looks like it was set up many years ago and then just rediscovered specifically for your pics. It is sweet and happy and so well done!

I especially enjoy how you got the "Tar-jay" beaded placements, because if you hadn't told me, I would have assumed it was all thrifted vintage--because your design is seamless and flows.

That little girl planter is just so adorable! I can see her on a lady's vanity table (like one Rita Hayworth might have had) next to pearls and a powder puff and a cherub lipstick holder.

Ahhh, you always evoke a gentler time! Brava!

Thanks, gang, for checking it out. I'm glad some fun was had! This one thrift near me tends to have some great 50s kitschy planters. I've been picking up interesting ones when I see them.

SeSo, I have to smile because our pictures here always create dimensional stories for you. I think you might do well with a bit of writing!

And ha, Oceangurl, I'd just settle for a date where the conversation didn't turn to football and tales of how snockered the guy was!

Oh tsr how I can relate....my husband loves football and he will watch it for hours upon end, whenever he does I just read my magazines and relax, Iam the biggest magazine freak, girly ones, fashion ones, slop sheet gossip ones, really any magazine geared towards a woman, if I dont get my fix of reading them all week during the evening, when home from work I have withdrawls, lol!  ;)
