bowling pins
« on: September 10, 2007, 03:07:39 PM »
What would YOU make out of old bowling pins?

I've acquired several (not at a thrift...but still very cheaply) and am getting ready to get crafty.  I have several ideas already, but would love to hear your ideas.  Here are some of mine:

Snowmen for Christmas
Ghosts for Halloween
Paint them Funky-Cool for a Garden Border

Thanks!

You could make some trendy mod Rock-a-billy lamps...I've seen several done up like that.
I have one that I acquired from an ex-room mate.
I dunno what I'm going to do with mine..I'll watch this posts responses and see if I like any of the ideas you get..

Spray paint 'em and use 'em as legs for a Zen-mod coffee table--you can eat Sushi sitting on the floor while listening to your Brubeck "Take Five vinyl...

I remember seeing a wind chime type thing made out of bowling pins.  Don't remember exactly what the middle piece was.  Might have been a bowling ball.  More for decoration probably than the "chime" aspect.

That sounds like a cool idea, but in reality it seems its more of a Hurricaine/Tornado warning system  If the wind is blowing that hard that a bowling ball can hit some pins then you really should head for the basement...  I'm thinking maybe it wasn't a chime, but a mobile?

You could take a 45 degree slice off of the flat bottom and then mount them to the wall pointing upwards...instant super cool coat rack.

My first thought was table legs of some kind, but the coat rack idea is awesome!

I would also be tempted to paint them up and have the funkiest front porch nativity scene in the neighborhood at Christmas.
