In response to previous review from 10/10/14, the Frances Center receives absolutely NO government funding and takes not a single dime of taxpayer monies from Medicaid or any other agencies. We are funded entirely by the thrift store that we operate on location. And yes, I very much personally enjoy frequenting auctions to supplement the store's inventory and am always very upfront and transparent to reveal if an item was purchased or donated by one of our generous community business friends, our estate sale company comrades or the general public at large. And yes, our mission includes the continued academic and vocational education of not only our clients, but any adults with IDD. This aspect is extremely difficult to consistently offer with no state support as, unlike myself, most teachers require financial compensation for their work. However, we do continue to offer classes during our morning hours before the store opens at noon each day. Feel free to stop by and visit a class or volunteer time to teach one!

This woman charges the government for supposedly having a school. Been there on many different schools never have seen any classes going on. She get government funding and evidently they don't check things out. She goes to auctions and brings most of the stuff in. She is not really what she says. I stop going there because of some discrepancies'...It could be ok if she didn't yank peoples leg.

I'm an avid Thrift Store Shopper and I recently found this store. It is without a doubt my favorite thrift store in the entire East Baton Rouge Parish area. Everything you could need for your home. Wide selection of vintage merchandise. Will be opening a second location soon that will deal in anything fabric related: clothing, window treatments, upholstering of furniture, etc. Love the concept of helping young business owners. great that they help the people working there. pretty well set up store ,good selection of housewares .no clothing or sheeys etc .but thats okay . prices are okay on some things but furniture somewhat high priced .

Great place and a wide variety of different sorts of things. Big store with great finds.

Absolutely the best kept secret in Baton Rouge! A little off the beaten path, but the best thrift store I have EVER been in! TONS of items that are made from the donated items- repurposing- they call it! Have never seen another store that does anything with their items except stick them on the shelf. Even better, the clients being served are right in the store working daily and report that they get 100% of the money from their sales! Great concept!! I will be there weekly!!
