In response to previous review from 10/10/14, the Frances Center receives absolutely NO government funding and takes not a single dime of taxpayer monies from Medicaid or any other agencies. We are funded entirely by the thrift store that we operate on location. And yes, I very much personally enjoy frequenting auctions to supplement the store's inventory and am always very upfront and transparent to reveal if an item was purchased or donated by one of our generous community business friends, our estate sale company comrades or the general public at large. And yes, our mission includes the continued academic and vocational education of not only our clients, but any adults with IDD. This aspect is extremely difficult to consistently offer with no state support as, unlike myself, most teachers require financial compensation for their work. However, we do continue to offer classes during our morning hours before the store opens at noon each day. Feel free to stop by and visit a class or volunteer time to teach one! (Read More)
