can't wait to get out and thrift!

« on: January 01, 2008, 10:25:08 AM »

hi all - merry happy new solstice and impending year...

right before christmas, i scored 5 incredibly beautiful "pebbleford" saucers in assorted colors. i am assuming they are all pebbleford - only one is actually marked. they are in the prettiest array of colors - light lime green, pink, and a blue that i would classify as "van dyke" blue somewhere between teal and turquoise. my question has to do with lead levels in these old glazes. what are the colors to watch out for? i just found out my old orange dish collection has uranium in it! (at least, that's what i read about orange glaze) but i'm wondering if there are other colors that are unsafe. any info would be helpful. thanks

Hi Genuine,

Lucky you! It's a nice pattern, made by Taylor, Smith, and Taylor, introduced in 1952. I'm not sure about this, but I think that you don't have to worry about radioactive glazes in pottery and dishes made in the 50s.

Here's some great information about the line:

Good find!!
