I had a great jaunt at the Harrisonburg (VA) Goodwill the other day. The take:

--Two flowered side plates, squarish, melamine, with blue and green flowers by Andy Warhol. (Maybe a souvenir from his museum?)

--A big fluffy terry cloth robe, which fits me (I'm a Junoesque woman)--something I'd been shopping for, unsuccessfully, online and in stores.

--A batik-print jacket, in my favorite shades of blues and greens, probably very expensive when new.

--A Liz Claiborne knit shell, in navy, to go with the batik jacket and also with a lot of the rest of my wardrobe.

--A Chico's tank top--I have an olive green one, also thrifted, and it's a staple of my travel wardrobe; this one is russet red.

--A little ceramic tiki god cup--maybe a shot glass?--on a leather lanyard, to be worn around the neck, as far as I can tell. Brand new--the lanyard is still wrapped up.

Oh, I forget what else, but I spent somewhere between $20 and $30. The clothes were 3 or 4 bucks apiece. The plates were 65 cents each!

This was a great haul for me. A few days earlier, in Hollins, Va., I had nearly as good a trip, with an Eddie Bauer velveteen dress, another professional-looking outfit (including a really nice jacket with frog closures), and a Methodist hymnal.

I gotta sell some stuff to make room.

Sounds like you made a haul!  That is super neat about the Warhol plates... I wonder what they are worth?

And that is great that you found so many clothing items!

Nifty bunch o' stuff! Nice too you found some stuff to wear for the holidays. I've had good luck myself finding velvety things at thrifts for some reason.

Wow, Sibella, what a haul!  I am so happy that you found your cozy bathrobe. Smiley  I envy your ability to find clothes that you like that fit you.

Ladies, I have had excellent luck in finding velvety things at thrifts, except that I don't need 'em, and I live in Florida, so I will never wear them (haven't yet!) But TSR, I was walking through the SA just today and thinking...you know, if I ever need dressy clothes, this is really the place to come...or any thrift, for that matter.

I am dying to know more about the Warhol plates! Did you know he was a thrifter?  A few months ago, I saw a doc on Warhol on Ovation.  According to this doc, Warhol went to church every Sunday (RC mass) and then would head over to the Chelsa Street flea market!  He did this for years...he said that it fired his imagination up! (I had posted more info on this a few months ago, but can't seem to find it)

PS:  Sibella, Love your pic!
