I bought a cute Magic Hostess ice crusher from the GW. I  cleaned it up, and it works fine. I just love it. Gives my kitchen a real retro look.It was $3.00.

It has a drawer where the crushed ice goes. I think it's from the 60's, not really sure.

Heh- you had me go look at the pic of an ice crusher I'd just bought to see if it was the same thing... Mine's a pink vintage ice crusher from a local antique mall. (Mine's not HostessMagic, though.) You can see it at the top of the page here:

Have you used yours yet, or do you plan to? It's true, they have a great retro look.

Yours looks older than mine. My Magic Hostess is electric, and it looks like yours is the hand crank kind. I love that pink!!

I am using mine because my ice maker no longer works, so I keep a bag of ice in the freezer. I didn't intend to use it, but I do. My son loves to crush ice in it and sometimes goes overboard!

I found the Magic Hostess at the GW, and two other vintage kitchen things that somebody donated. I bet they were all from the same household. One is a Wearever Cookie Gun and Pastry Decorator; the other is a Nordic Ware instant cookies and patty shells maker with a double rosette and timbale iron. I haven't tried timbales yet. We tried the cookie gun and couldn't work it too well. Guess it takes practice.

Oh gosh, is that cute. Gotta love that vintage font on the front!

Yes, those cookie presses take some learning, but really do make beautiful cookies. My mother used to make Spritz butter cookies in hers, and they were amazing! I think you'll master it with a wee bit of practice, and then-- LOOK OUT WORLD! Smiley

I plan to master the timbale iron as well, and maybe can sell timbales. That is, if I can figure out what the heck a timbale is!!

LOL, I remember when I was a kid my grandmother had an electric cookie gun.  Man that was a lot of fun making cookies.  It is somewhat of a learned skill to operate an electric cookie gun.

As far as ice crushing goes, I have the Icer attachment for my Oster blender.  This came new in the box, thrifted for $1.  The original price from 1973 is $7.50.  Doesn't she look so happy on the box?  I know I'm happy when I get to use new attachments for my 1,200 watt Oster blender.  That sucker pulverizes the ice.  $1 well spent.

I look that happy when I use my Magic Hostess, but I don't think I ever was as happy as she looks over a new appliance!

And remember, she is probably even happier than that...  I think she is as maxed out on the happiness scale as monochromatic printing in brown will allow.

If you enjoy seeing people overjoyed by appliances or other items, in advertising, go to Flickr and do a search on vintage advertising. The ads are funny and the comments about the ads are hilarious.

I love, love these boxes. Packaging is so fun to see, since so little of it remains. That woman is smiling with love of the great convenient world, as she adores her kitchentop appliance. Too funny!!

Kris-- so cool you have the same ice crusher. They're a cute shape very of its time period, so I'm sure nice in any color! The pink sort of really made me NEED it though. Smiley
