Hello, thrifting here in Indiana has been downright depressing recently, everything is coming from either Target or the now closed Value City Dept Store. So I went thrifting to a Lutheran Charity thrift shop in town, I avoid it usually because it is 1) outrageously priced and 2) there is rarely new items added. Entered the store and the same items but different volunteers present. While looking at houseware, buried behind the electric can openers was a pale yellow ice bucket with plastic lid nothing special but it will match my kitchen. While trying to remove the packing tape holding the lid in place discovered it was by Georges Briard. Few days later I went to the Salvation Army Superstore and discovered a 100% camel hair full length coat from the 1960's in excellent condition for $3, a orange lounger from the 1960's that has a elastic band inside to wrap around your torso to (as my grandmother use to say) hold up your bosom for $2 and a pink bed jacket from the 1950's for $2. Quite pleased with all my purchases. Any suggestions as to how I can remove the sticky residue left from the packing tape on the ice bucket?

Congrats on your vintage finds!  Goo Gone should take the sticky residue right off.  They were selling Goo Gone at Dollar Tree the last time I looked, if you have one of those stores near by.

Try De-Solv-It for removing tag residue.  Works great and smells like oranges.  I love the Georges Briard stuff, too.

Ooooh, congrats on those finds. I buy loads of items with those darn sticky stickers (and don't you just love when they put them on the front of the picture frames vs the back) and I use Goo Gone as well. Works great!

Thank you everyone for the suggestion of Goo Gone, going to Dollar Tree tomorrow to see if they have any available. Now if only SA would stop stapling prices on the clothing *sigh*.
