On the other hand, I like Jon Pertwee from the older stuff (older stuff - does this qualify as "thrift-related?").

As for the "companions," Rose is okay, but my favorite from the older stuff was Tegan.  I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude on how Donna Noble works out in the upcoming season.

I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last night (and no I won't tell you how old I am!) and had forgotten that Davis Tennant played Barty Crouch Jr, one of the Death Eaters.  Had that mad look in his eye.  Perfect for the part.
