I recently put together a little play area for my daughter (who is turning 1 next week!). Most everything I've bought her has come from garage sales, including her clothes:

Right on, thriftymama! Cool Excellent! And that is one cute baby you've got there! Grin

I am a Mom and a Foster Mom and I have been thrifting for kids' stuff for nearly 7 years! I've done a nursery/bedroom for Foster Children and my bio child's bedroom from items that I have thrifted. Most of the furniture I bought second-hand off Craigs List and the decor from thrifts and garage sales. What I love about their rooms is that a lot of the stuff is vintage so the rooms have a unique look to them. Smiley

I buy almost all of their clothes second-hand, and because I am able to hit the thrifts so often (I am a SAHM.) I can be picky! These kiddos have many items that are top quality stuff. I have bought clothes for my child from Goodwill for $2.49 that I have sold on ebay for as much as $35! Shocked (TBF, it was boutique clothing that would've cost $50-$75 new.)

Anyway, I am passionate about thrifting for my kids' things. They don't care that their things are second-hand if ya know what I mean! Wink

I heart Picard, too.  Make it so, Thriftymama!

Your daughter will no doubt learn the power of thrift from you.  She looks so cute with all of her cool stuff!  I need a play area myself...

Great thrifted play area!  It all looks brand new, but I bet it feels good to know you didn't spend brand new prices!  Those baby toys add up fast!

What a cute girl she is!  Love all the bargains that you've found for her play area, great deals those were.  I too heart Picard.

I'm a big proponent of thrifting for kids' stuff.  Why?  Well, at younger ages, many children don't CARE what they look like, unlike their mamas, who might be worn out from parenthood, but still feel the need to look good here and there.

I also think there's a tremendous amount of good use left in most kids' gear and clothing, since they grow out of it so quickly.

I suspect there's a hint of wanting to be "green", too, when it comes to buying kids' stuff, because I know I felt crappy enough about all the stories about disposable diapers being in landfills for thousands of years and what not.
