Y'ever spot a deal so good you couldn't pass it up no matter how little you needed it? On a hunch? Yeah, I know you have. I've been there. just today, in fact. My radar went off (yes, I'm old fashioned sometimes) and pointed me to the Savers up the road from me. What did I come home with but a pair of Pioneer HPM-100 speakers. These things are MONSTERS. Each one of these 4-way wonders weighs close to 60 pounds and stands over 2 1/2 feet high. Some love 'em, some hate 'em, but it's agreed that they can go for quite a bit of money on eBay. A friend paid $300 for his pair. Me? About a tenth of that.

They didn't quite sound up to potential in the store for various reasons, but I took the chance. And now that they're home they actually  sound great. There'll be some cleaning up to do on these bad boys...and possibly some rearranging of things around the place so they'll fit in. Sonically they're playing nicely with my Pioneer receiver right now.

Short on space but long on pride,

Zed

If you scored a functioning pair for $30.00, then you SCORED GREAT.  I've had similar big-way speakers, and I've liked some and some not so much.  I've never found these.

Thumbs Up.
