Yesterday I was -where else?-  my favorite ts.  On Thurdsay the half price color changes so I alwsy go and see what is still there I didn't want to pay the full asking price for earlier.
Didn't find much that was halfprice but the jewelry counter offered and interesting find.  A silver pendent of a bird flying trees.  Enamel work on a silver medal medallion.  On the back it was marked dePassille/Silvestre, Made in Canada.  I had never heard of the company but the pendant was $3.  I hesitated for a second but then decided what the heck, I really liked it so it came home iwth me.  Then I got on the internet to see if I could find out anything about the company.
Turns out it was a husband/wife team that made jewelry in Cnada in the 60s and 70s.
And then I found this:  http://cgi.ebay.com/Fab-Enamel-De-Passille-Sylvestre-Pendant-~-Bird-~-Tree-_W0QQitemZ390070224528QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090717?IMSfp=TL090717149003r33337.
Edited to add, my necklace is silver toned with a blue background, otherwise, it is the same.
And I was glad I paid the $3 for the necklace intead of waiting to see if it woud still be there on half price day next week.
I have already told my kids if I die before thier father, they are UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!,  to let him start getting rid of all my carefully collected stuff.   Get someone in who knows what is valuable and what is junk.  To DH, it is all junk and I know he will just start tossing stuff left, right and sideways without knowing what anything might be worth.  If he bugs me, I think I will show him that ebay auction.  I know I haven't found any
undiscovered Picassos, but I know I have found things worth far more than I paid for them

Jeannie, don't just tell your kids what you want them to do - put it in writing and get it notarized!  Better yet, have a revocable living trust drawn up.  That's what I did.  It specifies who I want to liquidate my collection of "treasures" (a local estate liquidator who I know and trust) and I can update it as necessary any time I need to.

I already have one of those.  DD had the responsibly for deciding what to do.  Since she is my thrifitng/garage saling partner, she already knows what could be hiding in my treasure trove.  I was just concerned that it was possible DH could start in throwing before anyone realized what he was doing.  But both kids have seen things on ebay similar to what I have and know how quickly thier Dad could start pitching.  So I put them on the alert.

That pendant is fab, very late 60's/70's looking.  I think it would look better in silver too.  Speaking of that era I recently discovered one of my favorite shows that I used to watch after school in Jr. High, Rhoda, is now on Hulu.com along with lots of other good TV shows.  They don't play that show on TV Land, so I was excited to watch it again.  I thought Rhoda had the coolest apt ever & I still do!

A girl friend and I used to compare ourselves to Mary Richards and Rhoda. I was Goody Two Shoes Mary aand she was wisecracking Rhoda. Sometimes we would do goofy/stupid things just because it was a Mary and Rhoda thing to do.  We had great times then.
