I make the rounds to as many stores as my time and budget allow, and today I stopped by a place I don't hit very often because it's nowhere near my usual haunts - and I had been drooling over a set of TS&T dinnerware there for a couple of months.  It's not really a thrift, rather a resale shop that is pretty picky about what they buy - but their prices are often very reasonable, and they promptly discount things that don't move.  Their usual MO is 25% off, 50% off, and at long last they drop it to 80% off.  The last time I was there was actually not more than 2 wks ago, but I happened to be in the area again, so no harm in checking in.  The last time, the set of dishes was marked at 25% off its $65 price tag.  Still too rich for me.

But today... apparently they were running out of storage space, because it was marked at 80% off ($13), for what the tag said was six place settings of 6 pieces each (cup, saucer, bread & butter plate, dessert bowl, cereal/soup bowl, and dinner plate.)  I asked to see the rest of the set before I committed to buying it (they just show one place setting on the shelf and keep the rest in a box in the back.)  Well, in the box was also the creamer & sugar bowl, vegetable bowl, platter... to be honest, I think there might have been a couple more pieces, I was so giddy I didn't stop to count.  Something like 42 pieces for that price.

It's TS&T's "Versatile" shape, made in the mid-1950s, white with a wide coral band, with gold trim both on the edges and an inner ring.  And it is in GORGEOUS condition - I'd bet it is almost unused.  Probably was someone's "good china", or received as a wedding present - you know, the stuff you think you'll use, and that you know you'll never be able to afford to buy, so you ask for it when you get married...

In any case, pics will follow shortly, once my hands stop shaking! Grin

Sounds really pretty and you're right it was a steal, probably less than you'd find at a charity thrift.  Great find!
