It's been forever since I stepped foot in a thrift store, but Sunday my MIL and I went to her local GW...

Steal:  An neat old Wm Chandler cabin/mountain print in original old frame for $2.09 (almost pristine condition!)

Good Deal: I found 2 glass storage bins with metal lids and red knob (They look like a fish bowl on it's side with lids) just like one I already have, but one larger and one smaller... $3.59 and $4.99

Fun Finds:  5 large hardback I Spy books for $1.29 each and 3 different Pippi Longstockings books at $0.99 each

The print was the best find of all... I haven't had that much thrift luck in a long time!  It is really pretty and will go great with my other cabin/mountain prints.

The funny thing was that my Step FIL said we wouldn't find anything there, so why were we going?  That GW has been a wonderful source in the past, but recently moved into a newer building and is stocking it with mostly newer junk.  It just goes to show you never know!

Great stuff, OPJ!

You made me smile because I haven't thought of Pippi Longstocking books in YEARS! How fun!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time and found some great stuff.  I like those I Spy books too.  And that picture sounds like a great deal.

Great deal on the art work!

ADORED Pippi as a child. One of my puzzy cats has striped front legs--reminds me of Pippi's long stockings, LOL!  Would love to find her books again.

anybody who loved pippi has to look for emil, also by astrid lindgren. (there are various editions, but emil's pranks is the first). WELL WORTH LOOKING FOR IF YOU"VE GOT KIDS WHO LOVE TO READ ASTRID LINDGREN.

[on a politically correct note, he does get punished when he is bad and sometimes i believe he is spanked, so if you're against your kids reading about that you should be aware.. mostly he gets locked in the woodshed, which is it's own story..]

thanks for the info. I will keep my eye out for both I adored Astrid as a child, and now that I am an old child, I would love to read her again. Pippi made a profound impression on me back in the 60s. I don't think I've ever gotten over her, lol.
