What a shopping day!

I finally bought my prom dress today, at a vintage clothing store downtown.  It's an off-white chiffon, from about the 1950s. Floor length, sleevless, with an embroidered empire waist.  The material is slightly see-through on the skirt, but that's what slips were made for.  The dress cost $40.  One fifth what my parent were expecting to pay for my senior prom dress!

After we dropped it off at the seamstress for alterations, we stopped at a large antique/thrift mall.  I was looking for some jewelry and gloves (found neither) but I did find something totally unexpected (the best purchases always are)!  Knowles Taylor and Knowles china for $30.  It is a complete dinnerware set in pristine condition.  I'm picking it up tomorrow. I forgot to snap a picture of the back before I left, but from what I can tell it's of the "Victory" line.

I also found tons of wedgewood pieces for $5-15 but I didn't pick any up.  Maybe in a couple weeks I'll be able to go back and get some pieces.

I'll post pictures of the KTK dinnerware tomorrow hopefully.  My prom dress won't be ready for another week though.

It was a fun day!

Way to go, Cassandra! Great deal on the prom dress-- and just think, you'll be the only gal there with one anything like it! And the KTK dinnerware is a great find. I collect their decorative cabinet plates, and they're not easy to come by affordably!

How fun!  Your prom dress sounds very neat.  That is fun you got something unique and for a great price.  You won't have to worry that anyone else is wearing the same dress!

And congrats on your other great find!  I love those unexpected neat items that come along now and then.

This is why I should have taken a picture before I left the store- I got my designers confused!  I actually bought Edwin M. Knowles dinnerware-still a great find though.  I posted a picture of one of the plates and the stamp in the gallery.

Wanting a unique dress was one of the reasons I went to a vintage shop.  I'm so glad I did!

...and one of these days, you must wear the dress while eating a scrumptious meal off of the china!!!

Thriftily,

Well, it is a good news that you have already bought your prom dress. According to your description, I concluded that your prom dress is very much according to your style preferences. What you need now is good hair-do, light make-up and the right accessories. Oops, don't forget the shoes. Prom Dress
