Well, I had an interesting day today.  I drove out to Leesburg to have my dealer look at my truck.  Its been making this squeaky-chirpy noise for about 3 weeks now.  I had today off, so I figured I'd drive in and have it looked at.  Well, guess what...  I drove into the dealer, and it wasn't doing it...  for the first time in weeks.  Anyway, I left it there for them to see if they could find any loose pulleys or anything like that.  While they were looking at my truck I took a walk downtown and ducked into a few thrifts.  I found a couple of ties, then returned to the dealer.  They didn't find anything wrong with the truck, (big sigh of relief) and they didn't charge me either!  (Gotta love small town dealers, they treat you right.  That's why I keep coming back.)  They gave me a few tips to quiet it down if it ever happens again, but they didn't think it would come back.

On the way out of town I stopped by the SA.  In the back room with the furniture I saw this solid oak desk chair.  Big, heavy, 30's style gov't looking desk chair that swiveled and rocked, and was on a set of solid oak casters.  Not usually my style, but I have a curiosity about furniture that I suspect is Gov't purchased.  Being close to DC we have a lot of furniture floating around here that was purchased new by the Gov't.  The Gov't always puts the purchase order number, and the date on the bottom.  This way if they need to make a warranty claim they can look up the paperwork when it was purchased.  Anyway, I didn't see any gov't markings on the bottom of the chair.

I was then determined to see who made it.  I finally found a small metal plate on the rear of the chair that said "Heywood Wakefield".  Now, its not the vintage modern that they are famous for, but the chair has to be definately worth more than the $7 I paid for it.  Even better than that, while in the SA I found $1 on the floor, so utilizing my thrift karma, and my thrift math I only paid $6 + tax.  Not too shabby.  Made the trip to Leesburg well worth it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

(Sounds of SeSo freaking out) Jay! What magic do you process?

On the planetary front, yesterday was a new moon.  New moon=new beginnings=new Heywood Wakefield chair on the cheap.
Ahhh, grasshopper. Now I understand the mysteries of the universe.

Congrats to you, sir.

I am waiting for a pic of this chair throne. Maybe a pic of you in the chair  throne in your gay Hawaian shirt? Perfect!

I leave the continuation of the freaking out-athon to our very own Mattie

PS--I am very happy there is nothing wrong with your truck, also.

LOL, I will get some pics when I get some time.  Yesterday was the last day of my week off.  I won't get any time off again until Sunday.  Anyway, which gay hawaiian shirt?  I have several...

Well, in that case, Jay, any old Gay Hawaiian shirt will do Cheesy. But the one I was thinking of was the one you got at the DC flea market you did a few weeks ago that you told us about.

 Kiss Kiss,
SeSo

PS I am still laughing over your response...

Hi,

On a related note, about 6 months ago, I picked up 2 steelcase chairs at Savers for $5 each.  They were green metal desk chairs with armrests and the seat cushion and back were an orange-brown [presumably] vinyl.  The vinyl was in perfect condition and the rest of the chairs were in good to very good condition.

Thanks,
Bob

Oh, That's what I call my Brady Bunch Hawaiian shirt.  Its dated 1973, and has a wide collar and Tiki gods on it.  I thought of the Hawaiian Vacation episode of the Brady Bunch where Peter found a Tiki God when I bought it.

You really can't get a better visual than describing something as a Peter Brady Hawaiian shirt...

Tiki gods. Wow, Jay. That must be resplendid! Smiley
