Huh I am clueless but I know it is gorgeous.  The hinged casket is about 7 inches tall and in perfecto shape.  The little heart dish is about 4" in diameter and even more pristine.  Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I got both pieces for 4.99   Smiley

Very pretty!  Any marks on either of the pieces?

The casket has 6014 and the heart has 6024 on the bottoms in red. That is the only marking I saw.

Try googling porcelain casket and the numbers. You might have some luck. I once bought a vegetable server that was only marked 1961 on the bottom. I found some information through Tias website, I think it was, about another object marked similarly.

Good luck!

My guess would be Napco or Enesco--from the 50s-70s. Of course, I am only going by the numbers quoted, I can't actually see them, lol.

Try ebaying either of those and see what you come up with.

Also---maybe Lefton???

Good luck. They are very pretty!

I tried looking them up on EBAY and on Google and Im coming up empy handed.  The gilding and relief work is really pretty amazing and intact. The hinging is obviously old.  Thank you for your advice and I am going to keep on looking.  Is it even called a "casket"? <ditzy look>

If you are using eBay, don't assume the sellers know the proper terms.

Those items are lovely but they could be described by your typical eBay seller as any number of things -- lidded jar, china jewelry box, candy dish, hinged goblet, candy dish on pedestal  etc.

I would say these are trinket holders, maybe try a search for heart trinket dishes w/cherubs or pedistal trinket box.  You may never know who made them, but they were a good catch anyway!

A few times a year in my area various historical societies or libraries hold appraisal nights to raise money.  The appraisals are inexpensive, so if you never find out bring those to a local appraisal night & have a fun night out!

my mother came over yesterday and I showed her the pieces and she thinks they are pre-1940s. She said she had seen some boxes vaguely similar but not like this one. Oh this is driving me nutzo (ok, so I was nutzo before, now Im using it as a crutch) Smiley
