Cookie and I sometimes, when we can, go to this not very often opened but great thrift shop in Apopka. It's a Seventh Day Adventist store and is very clean and organized (always a plus with me) and very reasonably priced.
As I was moving through the store I went into the back mens clothes area and saw this fire helmet for $5 no freaking less. My grandfather on my mom's side was a career firefighter in Philadelphia, I have one of his helmets. The one I have is made of metal, but the one pictured below purchased at the thrift shop is made of I think leather. Ironically they were both manufatured at a firefighter supply place in New Jersey, Cairns and Brother Inc.
Anyway I think I got a good find, it has sentimental value and will always have the possibility of being worn for fun by me or Cookie, or my nephew Aidin or by my cat chuffy here..
Pictured is the helmet being reluctantly modeled by "Hot Nuts" Louie.
