I scored another really cool Ikea Poem Chair (with Ottoman!) today at Goodwill.  The set was priced at $24.99, but I (of course) had my ubiquitous coupon.

It's got the black frame and has a dark red (or terracotta) leather cushions.  I got it home, and did the tightening thing with the frames, did the Old English Scratch Cover (for dark wood) and then buffed them out, and they look very good (not new, but hey now).

I used my Meguiar's Leather Wipes on the cushions and they look excellent.

I had picked up a matched pair earlier in the year (like March or April, I think) so now I have to figure out where to put the new set.  Such a happy conundrum.

I'll upload more pictures when I re-assemble the set.

Great chair, looking forward to seeing it with the cushions on.  I love Old English scratch cover, it works great, I have used it on several pieces myself.

Nice score. Sometimes don't you wonder why people get rid of things? Are the cushions the same color as your other pieces?

Here's the finished product:

We put it in the guest room for now, but it'll have to be moved if we do get any overnight visitors.  My wife is going to use it as a reading room for the time being.  I'll have to find a table and nice reading lamp to complete the ensemble.

This is the set of two chairs which I had thrifted back in approximately March or April of 2008.

There weren't any ottomans with these two, but it would have been great if there were.  These have frames with a teak-cherry kind of tone, and dull electric blue cushions in a faux suede type of fabric.  I don't think Ikea carries this frame color or cushion color, so fiunding matching ottomans will be like finding a needle in a haystack - I won't just be able to go to the local Ikea and buy them.

There looks to be a spotted stain on the one on the left, but it's only in the photograph.  I use these in the living room.

We might as well complete the loop with a shot in my first Poem Chair and Ottoman.  This is from our yard sale in Selden, NY, back in the spring or summer of 2002.

We had originally bought the set shortly after getting married (1990) and it lasted a while.  It was a black frame with black fabric (nothing special - we were on a budget) and held up well for knock-down furniture.  That original set cost us about $150-160, so I know they are bargains when I find them for $24.99 a set.

Great find. Have not seen one with a black frame before. Picked up one of these sets myself a few months ago, just light wood stain with white cushion, but it had the ottoman. I also saw one of these in a house on some tv show recently. I paid $24.99, no coupon.
