OK. Maybe it was just coincidence. But I'd like to think the Thriftshopper.com shirt I was wearing had something to do with what I found today.

An OK start. Found the soundtrack to M*A*S*H. And another Animaniacs cassette (Yakko's World!). $2 plus shame tax...for buying from a place that was throwing out records! Sure a lot of them were crap that wouldn't go for a tenth of what they were marked, but still, you DON'T throw out records...'less they're broken. Had to make room for new stuff, they said. Glad I got there when I did.

Undeterred, I swang back to St. Vincent's, home of the best displays of thrift store furniture. And boy, did they have a lot of records. Lots of dance mixes and 12" singles, but a few goodies for me to claim:

Eurythmics: Be Yourself Tonight
10,000 Maniacs: In My Tribe
Jackson Browne: Saturate Before Using (can't believe I'm just getting this now. And after my swollen optic nerve, a song like Doctor My Eyes seems so appropriate)
Azteca: Pyramid Of The Moon
Stevie Wonder: Innervisions (much better copy than I had)
Exposed - 2 double discs of real nice early '80s rock - Sorrows, Billy Thorpe, OMD, Tommy Tutone, Psychedelic Furs, Loverboy...you get it. They're so good I got these so I could give my other copies away.
X: More Fun In The New World

After that, down the street a couple hundred yards to the Goodwill, where sat awaiting me were about 30 Nintendo games, each worth $3. I snapped up:

Link
Zelda (the gold ones)
T&C Surf Designs
Magmax
Snake Ratttle & Roll
Wrecking Crew
Clu Clu Land
Mighty Bomb Jack

And I thought about that nice $20 Pioneer LaserDisc player sitting there. Then I thought better of it because of its sticky drawer and lack of remote.

Good thinking.

Because at my last stop...there it was. Another Pioneer LaserDisc player! No remote, a little older than the first, but the drawer worked. And because blue tags are on sale this week, it was half price for $10! Nice top-of-the-line unit, ca. 1990/91: the CLD-3080. It plays both sides of the disc automatically, plays CDs (when it's cleaned and adjusted right) and even has a cool little panel that comes out when you push it to reveal the direct-access buttons and jog and shuttle wheel. Great picture and the sound is just amazing. And as a bonus, my friendly cashier gave me a nice white bag that fit the player perfectly to protect it from the snow.

I made out so well today, I'm considering going back to the Goodwill tomorrow for more NES games. Wink

What a great day!  Tell me, is the Billy Thorp song on the album "Children of the Sun"? - Love that song, but that album goes for big bucks!

Zed, congrats on all your groovy finds. Stevie Wonder is da bomb!  Innervisions is a work of art.  Love the Eurthymics and 10,000 Maniacs too. They're both so hard to find!

Sorry about your boo-boo eye. Feel better.

Ciao, Bella!

Nope. Exposed II has Just The Way I Like It and Let Me Outta Here.

...Speaking of Let Me Outta Here, there's another appropriate song for the way I'm feeling today. It's a furkin' flood zone here with all this rain. Still, I'm up early, like I hoped to be, so there's still a chance of getting more NES games at Goodwill before work.
