This past Friday night my daughter and I were treasure hunting in our favorite thrift.  I found two boxes of Christmas cards fora total of $1.50.
One box has a happy looking parrot on the front.  Cause when I think of Christmas in Ky , of course I thinks of parrots:)  Who wouldn't? Well of course it was red and green parrot.
Funky and silly enough for me to send out next Christmas.
Next box was more traditional.  Simple line drawingsof trees, wreaths and Santa Claus.  Except the writing on the inside was engraved, not just printed.  The price tag was from the most expensive stationery store in town.  Price was crossed out but in double digits. The name on the box was Crane so I just googled them.  Man are they expensive card makers.  Cheapest cards they had started at boxes of 50 for $70-80.  Prices went up.  And up.  And up. Even sold in boxes of 50 + the price per card as much as $6 each.  I prolly don't spend that much for a whole box.  I usually buy cards at the after Christmas everything 75% off sale.  Then forget where I put them.  But I have done that for so long at least now when I go looking I can find some, albeit from a couple of years or more ago.  I swear somewhere in this house there must be 10-15 boxes of Christmas cards squirreled away.]My kids will certainly be able to have an interesting estate sale when i am gone.

Those Crane cards sound decadent! Send me one for Christmas, y'all Grin

Of course, I think of parrots too, when I think of Christmas in Kentucky Wink Who wouldn't?

We get free cards in the mail every year from all these charitable organizations, so those are the ones we use, except for close family (like mom, etc.)  My mother would have my head on a platter if I sent her a card that didn't say, "Merry Christmas Mom  "

Crane is the company that makes paper for U.S. currency, so you could have a couple sheets of their paper in your wallet that are worth $20 or more!  Wink

I have an endless supply of Christmas cards. I take those sent to me (that I like) and cut the greeting off. I save the artwork. I set my printer for the card size and write my own greeting. Sometimes I hand write a greeting and send them as postcard greetings, or put them into an envelope and send.

I have to admit, as a retired Postal employee, I do get lazy about Christmas cards. It was a dreadful time of year for us. We worked 12 hour days, 7 days a week! Yikes! I need to work on enjoying Christmas more!

Nice find on the Crane cards.   I love expensive papers but my budget doesn't allow for it.    Have fun sending them out this year.  Won't people be impressed!!

My mom was worse than I am about sending out Christmas cards. Just one more task at Christmas for her.

Wish I had found some of THAT paper in the box. That would have been a real find, especially with all the nice green number s and stuff on it.

My Mom worked forthe Post Office too.  I remember those days well.  She would work from 6 pm to 6 am.  We would have to tiptoe around  after school so as not to wake her.  We were real happy when the Christmas rush was over.

They will be more impressed if I actually do it and not wait to the last minute to send out New Years cards.  I don't know why I don't just address them in July since I actually have the cards now.
