What a great deal, Alexandra!  I love the monogram look, too--and have been called "Laverne"!   Cheesy  So what--we have STYLE.

I know what the rest of you mean by being made to feel like a second-class citizen because of thrifting--but, I have been doing it for about twenty yeards and don't intend to stop now!  My husband is okay with most of it, but won't go and draws the line at clothes for himself (unless they have tags).  He is somewhat nervous about any items I find for our baby daughter, too.  My family knows I am into thrifting, and my Mom is right there with me.  My sister however, is appalled, but can be dragged along, and she usually finds something!  She won't go herself, though, and I suspect she only goes with my Mom and me because she's afraid she'll miss something!  But, I am still with one foot in the closet--I have never told my friends, some who I have known for 20+ years.  I don't know if they would be shocked, interested in going with me, or somewhere in between!

People are usually amazed at what I find at the thrifts & yard sales.  I have actually gotten some people who never thought about thrifting interested in going to these places.  I sell much of the stuff I get, so I guess it changes people's opinions when they find out how much you made off of the stuff!

When my daughter was little I probably would not have bought any used clothing items for her though.  I did not thrift back then, so maybe I had a little bit of a different attitiude.  At that time, you could get really nice kid's stuff at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for cheap, probably not much more that thrifting, so I would not have considered it.

Thrifts are not as good as they used to be, although I read a recent article in the newpaper about my local Salvation Army & was astounded at how much they pay for rent on the store space!  Minimum wage in MA is $8.00 HR, so I guess you can't expect them to have yard sale prices anymore.  This summer more than any I am taking advantage of the yard sales while they are here- no more missed weekends!

Oh, I know what you mean, Valley!  I only get stuff for the baby that is new with tags (sorry I didn't make that clear!) and only if it is a great deal.  Seems that sometimes new things (anything new, not just clothes) can get priced at retail or over in some thrift stores!
