Hello everyone! This is my first post and I'm pretty excited about finding this forum. Feels like home! Anyway, I have had tremendous luck at the local Goodwill lately. I went thrift shopping 3 weeks ago, just "running in for a second", you know. I dragged my husband in and saw one gorgeous, blue, suede slingback platform Prada heel that fit perfectly. I roped my sweet husband into hunting for the other one with me and we stumbled into a thrifting jackpot! They had three Rubbermaid just overflowing with mismatched gross shoes. I told my husband to help me just look for the blue suede Prada, but also to let me see anything I might find cute. He says "Like this?" and holds up a pair of perfect Gucci clogs ($4). I then find a pair of Louboutins($6) a few minutes later. Then I find a pair of Minnetonkas($4) (the short booties kind). We never did find that other Prada shoe. Sadly, the Guccis and the Louboutins were 4" plus! I used to be able to rock these, but I had surgery on my ankle, so no skyscraper heels for me. I ran in yesterday and got me a cashmere cardigan ($5), ancient Rolling Stones tee ($0.99), and Marc Jacobs heels ($6)! Those Marc Jacobs are too big for me so it's off to Ebay with them! That's the only downside of thrifting, I seem to have great luck finding these great designer things that I love only to have to turn around and Ebay them cuz they don't fit!

Thanks! I love shoes too, but I was always kind of wary of digging through bins for it. Now, I roll up my sleeves, search, and wash my hands immediately after I pay. No telling how many treasures I've overlooked just because I was too squeamish about digging through stuff. It's not like you don't have to sanitize after looking through the racks, so it doesn't add any extra steps to my trip! Thriftshopramantic, I love your blog. I have actually visited it plenty and am pleasantly surprised to find you on this forum!

Wow, you found some great items.  Welcome to the forum.  Did you buy the Gucci's and the other items to resell?

I've run across a few designer shoes but wasn't sure about buying them for resell.  There are so many sizes that I thought maybe you couldn't get enough for the shoes.  And then styles, are the shoes still stylish enough?  I guess I need to do some research on ebay to see what sells and if it would be worth it.  Thanks for the post, it started me thinking.

Actually, I did end up reselling them on ebay. I bought them both and they were my size, but I had surgery on my right ankle this past summer, so my tolerance for such high heels is nil. Plus, sad to say, they don't fit in with my lifestyle. I wear plenty of heels, even now, but my max is 3"! The Guccis were clogs and they had a 5" + heel! Same with the Louboutins. I find that I do real well with vintage Ferragamos (the ballet slippers with the hardware and the bow on the front?). I am alway hunting for me, but all I ever find are very narrow ones, so off to Ebay they go. Also, I was telling my husband that I was just going to start splurging (within reason)on designer shoes because I really like them and they really retain their resale value. I bought some Marc Jacob boots a few years ago on sale and they always just fit and after the surgery I couldn't even sort of put them on so I Ebayed them. I ended up selling them for $50 more than I originally paid for them. I'm going to try to remember to keep the box and dustbag they come in b/c it seems to be a pretty big deal to buyers. I have a blackberry, so when I run across a brand I don't know about, I check Ebay to see if they have them for sale and how much etc, etc.

That's great that you were able to sell them.  I know what you mean about some of the designer shoes being worth the price because of the quality of shoe.  It's great too that we are able to find many designer shoes at the thrift stores.  Congratulations on such a great buy.
