Today I had the day off so headed to the grocery to buy Halloween candy before it is all gone.  Grocery is in the same strip mall as the local GW so I headed there first.  And struck gold!  Or at least leather.
I'm a sewist so I was looking in the fabric rack when I saw what I thought was a good looking piece of vinyl.  Great whiskey coloring and soft so I took it off the rack to look for a price tag.  And looked at the back side of the piece and realized I held real leather in my hands.  YIPPPEEEE!  I took it off the hanger and unfolded it and realized it was the whole darn cow.  No real damaged spots, a few minor holes but all in all in great shape.  No price tag either.  I turned to put the hanger back and my eyes fell on another piece of leather.  Smaller, and had obviously been cut but still some good sized pieces and the same color as the first.  And no price tag on it either.  Wondered if the place took checks or credit cards since I didn't have a lot of cash on me. Went looking for a manager and found one.  She couldn't have cared less, and marked each piece $1! I tried not to literally jump for joy, took the stuff to the register adn paid so I could get the heck out of Dodge.
DD is already dreaming of the skirt she wants to make out of this stuff.  I think the AG dolls have some leather outfits coming their way too, but luckily they don't need much material to make clothes.
Still grinning about that find.

Nice!  Is it hard to sew leather?  I never tried that.

It's a little harder than with regular fabric but not impossible.  I've done it before.  Just need to slow myself down and take my time.  I usually want to zip thru projects. Can't do that with leather.
