just want all you "coach" ladies to know that i saw several coach purses at a consignment shop yesterday in the $100. range Shocked that's used...consignment...2nd hand...

EEK!

I guess it depends on what kind of a bag it is, if it is a newer high demand style or a large bag it might be worth that much.  There are alot of older style Coach's in good condition for reasonable prices on Ebay these days.  Some people still think of Coach as very high end, which it can be, but now that TJ Maxx & Marshalls carry Coach, Dooney etc.  You don't have to pay big bucks for them anymore.  Back in November I was at a thrift & a lady picked up a large Coach black bucket bag for 3 bucks, I was mad I missed that one.  I did find some stoneware that was more valuable than the bag though so I couldn't be too mad, if I had snatched up both that day I would have gone skipping out of the store!

I did get three vintage style Dooney & Bourke bags the week before Christmas, they were in great shape & were 5, 6 & 8 dollars

I never see Coach when I go into the TJ Maxx near me.

We saw a Louis Vuitton handbag today at the Humane Society TS. It was beige, over the shoulder, condition hard to tell. It was under glass. Price tag . . . $199

Okay that would feed a lot of animals. But come on . . . GD@17 was me and she said Louie is not even so hot anymore. I told her it will either find a home or stay until it gets a big price reduction.

I do hate to shop for handbags and wallets. I don't know one brand from another. I just buy what I like.

Not only that but LV bags are notorious for being pirated.  I'd wager any amount of money that for every legitimate LV bag there is in the USA, there are at least 50 fakes.

Unless they were going to GUARANTEE its authenticity, then they can keep the bag, even for $10.00, because that's what it'd cost you on Canal Street in NYC.

That's the thing.  If you're not up with high-end fashion you would have no idea if you were buying a fake or a real purse.

I doubt most thrift stores even authenticate the purses before putting them out on the racks either to not having enough time, funds, or not knowing a Wal-Mart brand purse to a designer purse.

I got a Chloe leather bag retails for up to $1000 at Saks for $2 at unique thrift in Rockville MD. Unique thrifts prices are usually higher than most thrifts but they miss stuff which is what I am looking for! Susan

Ah, Susan you do have the heart of a True Thrift Shopper. That is, willing to dig threw mounds of overpriced Dollar Store Knick-Knacks and tons of polyester, willing to leap tall piles of the ripped torn and stained, some of us could probably leap tall buildings too. All for the one perfect find!

Love getting good Coach at my thrifts... Years ago, my dear grandma bought me a British tan Coach set (purse, wallet, clasp coin purse) when I left for college.  Years later, I was working as a teacher and someone went into my purse in my office and stole my change purse.   Sad I know they were just after the money and probably tossed the change purse in the trash.  So, since Coach no longer makes the exact coin purse I had, I am always looking at consignments and thrifts to replace it.

I hope you find another change purse.  Try Ebay too because some of the older Coach pieces can be found there for reasonable prices, like under 10 bucks in some cases.  My sister had her whole Coach bucket bag stolen from under her desk at work years ago, you'd think you could trust your co-workers!

I haven't had the $1 coach yet, but have found 3 coach purses- total price paid around $12.  One was "cheap" because it was broken- I called coach and they sent a replacement clasp.
I also have a dooney I paid $3.00 for.

Great job!!  I have already found two coach bags thrifting but not as cheap as yours!!!  The first one had damaged straps so... I bought it for $19.99 and paid $15 to have the straps repaired - I am the envy of many!! And at $35 was happy!  LOL  The second was brand new with tags and everything and was in a shop showcase for $79.99 but it was 1/2 price day and so I got it for $40 - found out I didn't like it after all and gave it to a friend and went back to my "big old faithful" - It feels good to give someone a great gift that you normally wouldn't be able to afford to do so!

Today at the Sal Army I got a coach signature wallet for $2.00 and Dooney & Bourke signature handbag for $5.00.  The bag looks barely used, the wallet needs a little cleaning but it is fabric on the outside so a little oxyclean should do the trick. They are just the size I usually carry and I was looking for a small wallet.

My sister worked in a business that required a change of clothes before hitting the stage & once someone stole her socks. It's women only in the change room & those socks were worn & dirty.

For everyone fining these bags & purses. How can you tell right then & there that they are genuine?

Coach has a lifetime guarantee.  Here is the link for the form to have your items repaired.  For $20 per item (includes return shipping), it is well worth it.

Funny, I was just looking at their website the other day and saw that.  I was impressed by that deal.  I wish they did cleaning and conditioning, that is what alot of the older bags  I see at thrifts need.

Last week I bought a brown classic Coach purse and a pink Nine West purse for 12.96 at Savers in Toledo on my way back to Chicago.  They are both in good condition and the insides are very clean.  The funny part is I was debating on whether to stop at the store and look.  I'm so glad that I did  Grin
