Last week I found a mint leather Coach purse for a buck!  I knew I would not use it because I do not like shoulder bags but I could not leave it in the thrift shop!  When I told my friends what I had found one of them expressed envy and said she always uses a shoulder bag so I gave it to her.  Her reaction was pure excitement and one would have thought I presented her with a million bucks for she was so happy.  I was pleased to make her day and even more pleased that a lousy buck spent yielded such excitement!

I got so excited when I read your post, that I think I just piddled a little! A genuine dream find. Things like this are part of why we dig through thrifts. And good for you for being kind enough to give it to your friend who would truely appreciate it. I have an all leather coach shoulder bag and with just a bit of kind treatment and leather soap it is 6 years old and looks and feels better than the first time I hauled it out of the house. You gave a wonderful gift.

Sweet.  Had the same thing happen at a garage sale.  Except I paid $2.00 for my Coach bag.  I also bought a Fossil for $2.00 at the same sale.  Sometimes you just hit it lucky.  I gave them to my daughter, so I'm not sure of that counts the same (Dads are supposed to do stuff like that for their daughters).

Meant to comment on what you did also, BDA, what you did for your daughter is terrific, many men wouldn't have picked up on those... She is blessed, definitely, that she is such a part of your life.

Great find!   And YAYY! for you for giving it to your friend who would really appreciate it.  I am selfish for doing things like that I think.  I think the thrift gods look down on me and smile for giving finds like that to someone would would really appreciate it and then turn around and bless me with even better luck.  Only cost you a buck and made your friend really happy.  A pretty good deal if you ask me.  Where else could $1 bring so much happiness?

To me, this is the best part of thrifing.  Being able to give a prized item to a friend or family member makes it very special.

I did it again!  Saturday I went to a church thrift shop about 15 miles away and found a mint condition Fossil black leather shoulder bag for $2!  Again I could not bear to leave such a decent bag in the store so I bought it knowing it was not for me as I detest shoulder bags.  My neighbor is very fussy about bags and has been carrying the same leather generic bag for years.  We had pizza and movie night with them on Saturday night and I showed her the bag, she loved it so I said, "Well, you now own it!".  Such a great feeling to share in the "wealth" of thrifting and make someone's day.

I did find a hand bag I will use:  A yellow patent leather 70's bag!  So cute and Summery!
