This past week-end while browsing at my faovrite ts I found a puzzler.  It was a silk scarf, printed with lots of turn of the last century ladies, sort of Impressionistic.  The label read J Garcia, art in neckwear for women.  It was also $1, so it came home with me.  I Googled the label and discovered it was THE  J Garcia, as in Jerry Garcia, late of the Grateful Dead (is that redundant?)  It seems as if he was an artist as well as musician and some of his artwork was used on ties.  (OK I know, Jerry Garcia even designing ties is an existential mind game I can't even imagine, but that is a whole other matter.) But the puzzler is this.  I can find all kinds of info on the ties and the company that makes them, but zip on scarves.  Nothing on ebay, on the comapny's web site, zero, nada, squat.
Surely they made more than one scarf, but I can't find anything about them.  If you know of any web sites where I can find out info, I'd be Grateful (although definetly NOT dead!) if you would post it.  Thanks.

I did find 4 Jerry Garcia scarves on eBay but none that look like what you decribed.  Be interesting to see a picture.  I'm a visual learner.   Wink

OMG, J Garcia Scarf!!!   I sell ties on Ebay and the J. Garcia ties do quite well.  I did not know about scarves though.  I'm always picking up scarves at thrifts (I have a rubbermaid tub full of them)....Now I have a new item to add to my "wish list".   I would love to see a picture of this.   Thanks.

Last year the Hostoric district in our area had a neighborhood yard sale.  DD and I went and at the end we came to a church that was getting ready to close up.  They had two bags of scarves, literally shopping bags crammed full of scarves.  We asked the price thinking maybe to buy a couple.  The lady said $2 a bag.  Dd and I looked at each other and pulled out our wallets so fast I'm  surprised you could see our hands.  Got them home and started looking at them.  At least 25-30 scarves per bag. Name brands like Anne Klein, Vera, some Italian company I don't remember, most with their Lazarus price tags still attached. We got on the internet and checked out the prices and thought, hey we could make some serious money selling them on e-bay.  Then we laughed cause we realized, we didn't want to sell them.  There were tons of them too.  We each kept what we wanted, DDs 3 friends looked thru them and took a bunch, a couple of my sisters took some, my MIL took a bunch for party favors for a party she was having.  When I got tired of tripping over the bag of leftovers I took them to my favorite thrift shop just to be rid of it.  We certainly got our money's worth for $4.  There were even several pairs of socks in the bags, Tommy Hilfinger I think, that DD took, as well as a number of belt buckles and scarf pins.  Too bad we weren't intersted in selling them.  All that pretty money we didn't earn:(
Oh well, we still have the scarves.

Thanks for the info.  I was able to finda couple on ebay, and realized part of the problem was that I was looking for info on the site for ties and it was a different company altogher that made the scarves.  Vetrina Arte.  That said, I haven't been able to find out much more.
The brush strokes on some of the scarves you found were similar, although the designs weren't.  But you can tell the same person did them  Oh well.  I keep looking.
