I am a sucker for anything with a scalloped edge.  I saw this coffee table yesterday for 10 bucks at the Sal.  Since I don't really need a table, I passed on it, but since it was still there today, I caved & bought it.  Needs a paint job, but I still love it.  My daughter saw it though & wants it for her the apartment she is getting this summer, it will probably go to her.  Now that she is getting her own place I have a new home to shop for!

I see it painted as a start for some middle eastern pasha type seating bench, if it is sturdy enough. Definite middle eastern look to it if the picture does not delude me.

Yes it does have a middle eastern look to it now that I think about it.  Probably not sturdy enough for a bench, plus the scalloping goes all the way around so a person's legs would rest on it.  I would guess it was made around the 1940's.

Yes, it looks very 40's.  My grandparents had several similar tables (with the blue mirrored tops) that were from the 40's.
