No yard sales for me today.  Did errands, chores and so on this mornign and then this afternoon it was the libarary's annual bag sale.  $5 a bag for whatever, you could get in a grocery bag and they have books. records. cd's, puzzles, dvd's and a few other misc items.

Anyway, I got four bags.  Took about three hours just to get through stuff, so many people there.  But I definitely got a lot of good stuff.

Friend went yesterday to the regular sale and it was $1.00 a book for hardbacks (forget what paperbacks were) but for ten or more they were 75 cents each.  so my friend got twenty dollars worth and was quite thrilled with the bargains. I will try not to gloat about my four bags for twenty dollars.  Smiley

Wow, great price for the bags, especially when they include cd's dvd's etc.  You can probably fit alot of those things in a bag.  I was at a yard sale last weekend that was held at a non-profit organization where people had donated stuff for the sale.  They had a ton of clothes.  While I was looking around they announced that clothes were going to be $1.00 per bag instead of 1-2 dollars per piece.  I folded everything carefully so I could get the maximum amount of clothes into the little shopping bags they had.  Cheesy

Sit down, and please don't pass out but..........drumroll please.................................................I got a bi-centennial 7 up bottle for 10c.  Why, I have no clue, it looked lonely???

I saw an old 70's Tab bottle at the SA a few weeks ago, which reminded me of when I was a kid & drank Tab at my Aunt's house.  I picked up the bottle & pondered it but then thought better of it.  People do collect the old soda bottles though!

i had a GREAT yard sale day saturday! we are not yard sale shoppers, believing that the good stuff is usually gone before i get out of bed (5:30 most days Cheesy) but late saturday afternoon we were driving in an unknown town, and took a wrong turn (after we had gone to the thrift store..) and the girl says"ohmygosh! a bike!" so we pulled over and it turns out that she got the bike, but lo and behold the people who had the yard sale were drummers, and they were getting rid of quite a lot of instrument stuff, and i was able to snag a set of really nice cymbals for $40. Shocked my little drummer boy was shocked when i got them home. if i'd have had more money to play with, i could have picked up some beautiful drums as well.

Congrats on your rockin' finds!

When you say you don't get up until 5:30, do you mean AM or PM?

The yard sales here start at 7 AM, which means by 6:05 AM, all the good stuff is pretty much cleaned out. I don't rise before 9 AM, so I never make it to any of them. Which is fine, because I am in the process of cleaning out my house and I refuse to bring anything else in the house unless it is needed, spectacular, or both.

i mean AM.. when you live in the boonies, that's barely time to get out the door for a decent yard sale - all the early birds you know!

and i like yourPurchasing Parameters seso - spectacular AND needed is of course the best of both worlds!

Amazing how much stuff you can get into a paper grocery bag! Truthfully, I am not too talented with the packing well stuff.  I remember an aunt who would go to bag sales and get an amazing amount of slcothes in a bag,  She would take them all out and I would jsut be amazed.

However, for this sale, I had a friend along who packs very well indeed.  She found a quiet corner and busied herself packing up the bags. So I'd have a bag full of books, she would pack and then it would be only a half bag or less of books so i would foray ino the masses once more for more stuff.

I am most exited about the 16 volume Mechanix Illustrated enclopedia I got (which only pilled about 1/3 of a bag). It has lots of things that are of only historical interest--for example making a fall=out sheler or checking the tubes on your television, but they are intersting nonetheless. But it also has lots of great plans and instructions for all sorts of things that will be useful.

Wow, all you early risers--I think that is why I don't go to many yard sales. Too early!
