I had to return my Franciscan glasses, and got my $$ back. But I guess the Thrift Gods hate a thrift vacuum, because I found this the same day:

Look! It's http://ORANGE

And yes, it did come complete with that funky, original lampshade--pant, pant, swoon, swoon!

I was in ecstacy when I found it (admittedly, it doesn't take much   Cheesy). It's in minty condition, and Yes, this works.  It's a three-way switch, no less.

(There are no chips or lines or cracks or wear on the pottery; just a reflection of the flash Tongue)

Price: 6 bucks and change. I just reinvested my glasses money. And I still have some $$ left over.

Wow! Seso! The thrift gods really smiled on you! Great find! I have seen that lamp or one similar in my travels except in advocato green, I myself would prefer the orange, it has a 50's flair to it when the kitchen appliances were in orange or havest gold or a soft pink, or turquoise, remember? Oh I do! I really hit it  big today at the Catholic Thrift, I decided to go after work, against my tired will, lol, but I am glad I did, I got a Vera Bradley pink paisley wallet for .50cents  and they had all ladies tops half priced, I must have bought 8 tops at $1.00 each which meant I only paid .50cents each, one a cool tommy hilfinger camoflaguge girls tshirt, cut small, a cute pink tank top with glittery letters that says Sea world, a cool beige Hurley hoodie with advocato green and brown flowers on the inside of the hood and studs along the sleeves and bottom and I cant remember what else, but I spend fourteen dollars but came out with two bags full. Now you know I didnt need any of this, I could start my own fashion clothing boutique out of my room but I worked so hard and in my mind I deserved it!  Wink

Ah-- $6, the perfect cost for a vintage lamp!  Glad it found its home there in your house, SeSo. I think orange items must hear you calling them, and wait patiently for ya. Smiley

Thank you, ladies for your very kind kudos.

TSR, as you know from our previous discussions on this site, I need another lamp like I need, well, another lamp! Which is to say, I didn't need it at all. But fer gosh sakes' it's ORANGE   Grin Grin So, there is my justification.

Now for those bright orange velour pillows with gold embroidery.

Maybe my Thrift Gods wear orange. I was so moved by the color of this lamp, I thought of writing a tract: "A Brief History of the Color Orange"

Oceangurl, nice job on the thrifty clothes!  And funny you should mention you see this lamp in avocado green. At the thrift, right next to my Orange Blessing, was a drippy avocado green-into-blue lamp. It was smaller than my Orange Beauty, and it had no shade, but the pottery was ex-quisite. And at only 5.00 with 50% off, quite a deal.  Alas, I truly could not justify its purchase. There must be  blue-green thrift Gods out there directing their human to it...

Way to go on the lamp find!  It's alwasy so much fun to find things for cheap.
Yesterday the thrift gods smiled on me for the first time in a while. I was searching in  the sporting goods section for rain gear for my son's scout troop.   The have a scout closet where they keep donated scout clothing and outdoor gear for scouts who couldn't afford to buy the stuff themselves.
Found a nylon rain jacket, and then laid eyes on the coolest overnight/carryon size bag.  Leather with surfing lizards and beach bumming lizards in the brightest shades of orange, blue, green, pink yellow and red.  All trimmed out in sequins and glitter paint.  For $4.50.  Loved it at first sight.  Also found a Reader's Digest guide to knitting for $2 for my DD.  Jacket was $3, with a half price sticker, and being Wednesday, the entire purchase was 20% off.  So for $6.40, I got it all.  Haven't done that well in a while.  Maybe my thrift gods were taking a winter vacation and cameback when the weather warmed up.

Jeannie, darlin' you really cleaned up! Nice job!  I am totally impressed. Maybe the thrift gods heard it was finally spring Grin up in your neck of the woods. That carryon bag sounds particularly appetizing!

OPJ--as one fellow orange lover to another...Yeay!!

Luvs the orange--ness.  I always see a lamp I like every time I thrift but I ride a motor scooter, and it's kinda' hard to carry home a lamp on a tiny little bike.  (I've found that my scooter saves me from all sorts of useless junk I don't need.)

I actually only have one lamp in my entire house.  It's a life-sized plaster bust of Elvis Presley.  Smiley  My grandpa picked it up off the curb about 10 years ago and I fell in love with it.  It's never gotten a shade, so usually he's used as a hat rack.  I don't particularly care for Elvis music...but I love my lamp.

That lamp is killer !!! I would have to  have that if i saw it.. not sure where it would go, as as my house is very "bachelor never grownup".

Not sure if it would go with my simspons figures or my music icon collection... maybe my bedroom but my gf would have grandma' s house
flashbacks anytime she came by......

Gee, I can totally relate to your house,  Grin Grin Grin! Spacecadet and I are AARP members and our decor looks like--well, it looks like it came from thrift shops and dead-people's estate sales.  And it did-does-will continue to do so.

I am so thrilled you get the utter killer-ness of this lamp, Troy.

AlienEeeter, It is so wonderful that you drive a scooter. Good for your economy, saves gas, and saves you lots of money by not being able to carry things on it (as you know, Grin Grin)
