In my thrifting adventures in S. FL about a year ago, I found several cycling (bicycle) jerseys including a matching jacket and jersey from France. They are blue, white, red in mint condition and never worn. My husband and I are into cycling... we do tours and rides...etc.  Used Jerseys sell on ebay for up to 50 dollars and jackets for 100. Anyways, I know this matching set would sell for at least that. Its from a French club in France and has French on it....  One reason I like them so much is I'm a French teacher!

Fast forward to this past June. My husband and I did a week long bicycle tour and a lady walked up to me and said she liked my jersey.  I said thanks and told her I got it "second-hand".  I wasn't sure what her reaction would be.  It was so funny when she said "I love thrift stores" and that there was a thrift store near where we were staying the next night(yes I went, and no I didn't find anything)!  She also liked my helmet(also blue, white, red) which I told her I got from a thrift store. The helmet was in near mint condition and sells for 100 dollars!

Then she said "those are great items for a French teacher."  I couldn't believe it!  Then we started talking in French! It was funny. A French teacher, a thrift store shopper, and a cyclist just like me.  My husband couldn't believe it.

She said she would give me 4.00 for the outfit and I said, No way!:)

Did you offer her fifty cents for her shoes in return?

Great story though. I love kizmet and serendipity and other cool words.
