Lovely!!!  BTW, is that a Jeannie bottle on top of the hutch?

Yes that's a Jeannie bottle, got it at the same GW for $8. It's a 1964 Jim Beam Christmas edition. Cookie wants to paint it up like the one on the show, we have 2 of them.

I think your good luck rubbed off on me.  I saw a freecycle post today offering two danish modern chairs in good condition.  I answered thinking I would not be the first but I was!  I went to look at them not being optimistic that they were in really good shape- but they were!  Here is one on my back porch (killed my back lugging it up).  The other is still in the car, but it is identical.

My dad used to get tons of Jim Beam bottles (full ) at Christmas time.  He was in charge of all the  buying for the company he worked for.  I still have a few of the bottles he got. They are empty now though.

Thanks!  I can't believe I was the first one to reply to the freecycle ad!  They are in great shape,  I have seen a few chairs like this before but the cushions are usually flat as a pancake, or the fabric is in terrible shape and the cushion is not removable, so to get the whole package was quite a stroke of luck.  The great thing about the chairs is that the cushions are loose and the cushion covers have zippers so I removed the covers, soaked them in oxyclean and ran them through the wash.  THe mustard yellow fabric isn't my favorite, but I am going to make some pillows for them so it is not all yellow, I will post more pics when I get them situated.

I was at a Salvation Army store yesterday and they had a MCM bedroom set - that sort of bleached/dyed grey-blue finish that has never occurred in nature - with an interesting curved front to the dresser and chifferobe, plus a headboard/footboard, and a mirror for the dresser - all for $149.  Again, not my taste, but I'm sure some lucky MCM fan will be peeing themselves.

Hi guys, I know I am late to the party, but great score with the dining set and the free cycle chairs.  OMG...LOVE hearing the bargain stores!  I got the best deal on my kitchen chairs last year at GW...I had the farm house style set with the chairs with the spindles that have of course broken out from kids knocking them down all the time and moving.  Anyway, I found my chairs all 4 of them for just a few bucks apiece.  Brought them home, polished them with pledge wood soap and I have an awesome kitchen set again.  I am too lazy to look on the bottom for which mfr. they are, but it is a good one.  And though they are a dark maple, they match my oak farmhouse table just fine!!

The two Salvation Army stores in my area don't have much for furniture or it is overpriced.  I have found a few cute things at the little independent thrift, including a set of four vintage vinyl & chrome kitchen chairs that they put out for free because it was going to be too much work to clean them.  I cleaned them and they came out great!  I just need to find some great vintage tablecloths,  I have a round table and the round tablecloths seem much harder to find.  I will probably end up getting one at Target, they have some funky patterns.

Auctions are a good place for furniture.  if you have auctions in your area check it out you can get pieces for 5 bucks or less sometimes.

The ONLY negative thing about the set is that there was no table leaf. I have checked out the table and I could make one with some very high quality finish plywood and some precisely placed holes..

If the missing leaf is the only thing, that's a no-brainer.  You go the high quailty furniture plywood route, or, you could simply use a thrifted tablecloth when opening the table up.

You could also do both (high-quality leaf and tablecloth).

That is all.
