Last night while running some errands with my neighbor Mike we stopped off at the new Goodwill near us at 8:55pm just to make a 5 minute run through.
As we went to the back of the store in the furniture section I noticed a REALLY nice dining room table and 6 chairs, mid century danish modern. Cookie and I have been looking for a nice dining set for years and this was the set we were looking for. I was videoing the table and chairs to show Cookie when I got home and the manager, a really nice young lady named Jenna, came over to kick us out as our 5 minutes were up. I asked her if she might be able to give her Good Buddy at TheThriftShopper.Com a better deal on it. She then motioned to the wall and said, "I think that piece goes with it too.". There standing against the wall was the companion buffet dining hutch. I asked her how much for both. She gave us about $30 off the total and we paid about $200 for all of it.
When I clean everything up and load the buffet and cabinet I'll post pics.
On the back of the pieces there's a date stamp of 1960 and 1961 and the brand of furniture is Drexel. The overall condition is very good with some obvious wear, but the pieces are all really nice.
We'll load it all up tomorrow night and I'll take some pics.

I wish my GW stayed open until 9pm!

Great find!  My mom has a beautiful, matching teak Scandinavian Designs dining table, buffet and hutch that she bought in the mid-80's.  All the chairs she originally purchased (6) were destroyed I mean broken by my chair tipping brother and his friends.  Last fall, I was at my local GW on a rainy Friday night 5 minutes before closing and I saw the most beautiful teak dining chairs being carried out from the back.  I snatched them up for just $6.95 each.  My mom was SO happy!  Maybe shopping GW at closing is a good thing...  Wink

We finally got everything in the house..

The set is Drexel, we think it's teak and and style is Parallel.
The hutch is 6 feet wide and has all of our thrifted cookbooks and many other thrifted do-dads.

The top of the hutch, view #1.

The top of the hutch, view #2.

The bottom of the hutch.

And the table and set of 6 chairs that we also got.

Truly awesome set!  The wood is beautiful, especially the table top.  You will have be on the hunt now for some interesting candlesticks.  You should have a dinner party to celebrate!

It's so interesting how luck plays such a HUGE role in thrift shopping. That and tenacity.

Great score!  The thing I like about it is there is so much storage... which we need a lot of in our house.
