I had dropped off my taxes today with my accountant, who is in Southampton, PA, a suburb of Philly.  It was a nice afternoon, and something told me to take a ride to the Sal in Levittown.

Now, this is a Sal that I SWORE I would never return to.  Although it's a huge store, in the past I've never found anything, plus the prices were always rather steep.  But I felt God (my co-thrifter) prompting me to go.

First thing I find is a hand-painted jumpsuit for $2.99 -- these sell big on eBay.

Second thing was a Pucci blouse for $1.99.

Third thing was a vintage blazer made in Guatamala.  $3.98

Fourth thing was a tie from either the late '40s or early '50s.  MINT.  99 cents.  Fifth and last thing was a pair of shoes for $4.99

I WILL be going back!

Nice Pucci blouse, what kind of fabric is it?  Great pattern.

Funny how you can go to a thrift and it feels like it has an entirely different tone to it from one time to the next...

I've done that, saying, "oh, I don't care for that one." And then pop in there on a whim another time and have myself proven wrong, by a great haul.

Sometimes I feel like I am wasting my time going into some of the thrifts.  A week can go by and I am disgusted by all the overpriced junk, then something good pops up.  Luckily they are all close by so I don't go out of my way, if I had to I probably wouldn't bother.

A near miss today, found an adorable vintage wicker & lucite box handbag, looked barely used, 2 dollars.  Got up to the register all excited when I realized there was a big crack in one of the lucite pieces.  I put it back, so bummed out!

Note sure of the fabric content.  It's stretchy -- I'm guessing silk jersey.

Ditto about never writing a store off. Always pays to check back in from time to time.
On Wed. the local SA has family day so most things are half price.
Stopped in one day to check out books (I sell on half.com). They had some ridiculous pricing that was 1/2 of the retail price on each book. OK, can't buy here today. Went back a few weeks later and they had a huge amount of books and were selling childrens books 4 for $1. I could do that. I found so many I had to stop myself.
Will go back again maybe this Wed. and hope the sale is still on.

Post a pic of your books if you get a chance, would love to see them!

The food bank thrift was selling all the books for a quarter for awhile, I think they had an excess of books.  I picked up a few cute vintage childrens books, but no good cookbooks as I had hoped.  Their selection of books is usually not too exciting anyway.  They are back to the regular prices which are still pretty reasonable I think $1.50 is the most they would charge for a large hardback.  Too bad they don't get better books!

Whoa those handpainted monstrosities sell big on eBay? Man I'm out of the loop... Great Pucci, are you sure its authentic? The price is making me feel all kinds woozy and I have butterflies at the thought! Cheesy Would love to see the tie, you don't find those -- especially in mint condition -- anymore!

The more expensive SA that I stop liking for a while has had some OK stuff, although some if it is still overpriced.  Got a pair of funky vintage Ray Ban glasses today for 2 bucks.  There was a really nice vintage bureau for $80.00 which really wasn't too bad as it was old & nice.  There was also an unusual end table with a very unique shape for 10 bucks.  It was a maple finish which I don't care for but I might be tempted to get it if it hangs around.

The other cheaper SA seems to be getting dissed by the warehouse as all they have been receiving lately is crap.

FleaQueen, I believe the Pucci is actually a vintage men's button down shirt, which is amazing because they are so much more rare and harder to find than women's Pucci items. I would have to see the label to know for sure, but it seems like you definitely scored on that one! Congrats. I also love the jumpsuit, and you are right, some Ebay fashionista will definitlely love it.

I had no idea Pucci made mens stuff.  I listed this on eBay, and someone did ask, because the buttons were on the right side.  Turns out that it did not have darts, so I guess it was a mens shirt.  Although ultimately, a lady bought it.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that shirt, but I would totally wear it too, I bet you did well on Ebay with it!

My daughter's friends gramdmother lives down the street from us & the grandmother asked my daughter if I could come by sometime & take a look at some stuff she wants to sell.  Turns out she has a whole basement full of vintage clothing!  All small sizes unfortunately, but she is well dressed as an older woman and was apparently into fashion as a young woman, so I expect there will be some great designer stuff.

I wear medium sizes, but can sometimes fit into a smaller jacket, maybe I will luck out & find some 7 1/2 shoes.  I will definitely post any good finds!
