Do the thrift stores in your area turn into the land of Christmas rejects come January?  Mine do.  Suddenly all the as seen on TV products, new slipper socks, etc start showing up.  Yesterday I saw a Mr. Potato Head massager which I never heard of before.  I thought about buying it as a gag gift as it was only 79 cents but the box was pretty banged up.  At the food bank thrift I saw a box in the donation bin that was still mostly wrapped.  The top of the wrapping has been opened, but the rest left in place.  That must have been a really bad gift if the person couldn't be bothered unwrapping it.  I couldn't see what it was.

Not all rejects are bad, I did get a new with tags Banana Republic scarf with orig. Price of 49.50 for 99 cents and a pair of fleece lined suede mittens for the same.

I'm still looking for an "As seen on TV" Alumawallet XL as a christmas reject.

I never heard of that before, if I see one I'll let you know.  Today there was a cow shaped massaging pillow and lots of new board games.  Star Wars & Spiderman Monopoly, Pirates of the Caribbean theme Life and Clue.  I guess kids don't play board games anymore.  I would have been pretty happy with Star Wars Monopoly when I was a kid.

One cool Christmas reject I saw today was an Atom Pop popcorn maker.  These first came about in the 50's and they still make them in the same design today (also still made in the USA!).  This was at the sucky Sal Army no less, in the box with a bag of popcorn kernels for $2.99.  I might get if it is still there Monday, still thinking it over.  I don't really like popcorn that much but might be fun to use for company.

I did get a large vintage Coach bag for 10 bucks however, which wasn't too shabby.

I've decided to not thrift in January and now I'm really regretting it!

There is always a little bump at my thrift stores in January. Then they typically die in February & March.

Here we are 1-9-12, and Goodwills in Central AZ STILL won't apply sales or discounts to seasonal stuff.  Some stores have shelves and shelves of this junk.

The mind boggles at what they are thinking.

I know what you mean, our local GW has received a bunch of wine bottle gift bags that look like Santa hats.  I figured I'd pick up a few and stash them away with the wrapping paper, but they're priced $4.99/EA and they're not discounted.
