can't wait to get out and thrift!

« on: January 08, 2008, 11:05:17 AM »

well, the teenager is so hooked on thrifting that we did much of her birthday thrifting.
her presents included:
1) a vest made from kimono silk (brand new, 2.99 at sal army)
2) a real fur hat from hospice (4.99) perfectly in style, white fur. gorgeous
3) a vintage oilily denim skirt, with tag still on. heavily beaded and embroidered. this came from grandma so i don't know the price. it is incredibly beautiful, though it smells musty so it's soaking gently right now. GO GRANDMA!!
4) a clear plastic watch that she was able to change the battery on herself, so she felt so good about being able to recycle a perfectly good watch.

she is now asking if she can take her friends thrifting because she wants them to have "better" clothes than what they've got.
i've definitely made a convert!

That's so neat!  my soon to be 10 year old daughter loves it too - I think she likes that I just set her free to shop!  LOL

Happy Birthday to your daughter, and nice job on teaching her the value of a buck and joys of thrifting!  All those goodies sound wonderful

For the past few years, my husband and I go thrifting on my birthday.  It's my day and that's what I want to do.

Very impressive! Smiley Smiley
