Even though I have mountains of laundry and house-cleaning to do, yesterday I decided to do an early morning thrift run.

First stop, Village Thrift.  They open their doors at 8:00 am (!), so I was there shortly after.

Found THREE really cool decorative wood shelves (not book shelves, the kind you'd stick a Ming Dynasty vase on): $6.90

silly looking wood carving of a guy with a crown on his head: 90 cents

two pairs of shorts, one with original tags: $11.80

silk top: $2.90

two sets of vintage cufflinks (one set Scottie dogs, the other set horses): $5.80.  These will probably sell for $40 each.

VERY cool 1960's silk dress: $5.90

From there I went to Super Thrift.  Super thrift was not super, I didn't find anything.

Then on to Bargain Thrift Store #1 (the one in the dumpy warehouse-ey looking space).  Found a boxed set of Yma Sumac 45's:  $2.00

Then Bargain Thrift Store #2 (the nicer one).  Found a 1930's metal tray hand-painted with parrots: $3.75

1960's prayer lady coffee holder: $2.00

Next, Whosoever Gospel Mission.  The original store is open again.  (For those not in the know, the building houses homeless men, one of whom set the place on fire a few years ago.)  The store was very crowded, and there was nothing of interest anyway.

Last stop of the day, the Sal.

a pair of much-wanted shoes: $5.90

two crazy cool 1950's bow ties: $3.60

1940's men's lounging jacket: $1.45

Nice - glad it was worth it.

I hit three stores yesterday - one in Wickenburg on my way back from outside the city - a Blues Borthers 45 and a 45 by Plastic Bertrand  "Ca Plan par moi," a Grateful Dead Cassette and a Cassette of Early Rodney Dangerfield.

Nothing in either of the other two stores.

Sounds like fun, great finds!  I got a few clothing items today, shorts, a top and new leggings for $3.50 total, but that was it.  Clothes are actually pretty good at the thrifts here, but I only need so many clothes.  Unless it is some high end thing, I don't find selling clothes that profitable considering all the time it takes to measure, photograph, etc

The thrift stores in my area were pretty dry this weekend. Have tomorrow off and will see if they are restocked. Will report with my findings!

Great finds!  Only one thrift score for me on Saturday, a pair of BCBG Yoga Pants in great condition at the Sally for 2.12 (half price on all clothing).  I did better at the big box stores in the clearance section where I scored sleepwear for my Grandma and leggins and tops for the fall for me.

I know what you mean, I wish the people who price clothing at the Salvation Army here would go to the discount stores and see how cheap you can get clothes these days!
