Bless your heart, Dianne, it is such a great idea. It's the bug thing--I had a clothes line when I moved here, and the little critters kept crawling in my clothes, and that can be pretty icky. With a clothes rack, I can place the clothes wherever away from bugville, or place them by a window in the house. My mom in CT always has her clothes on the line and when I lived there, it was something I did ALL the time, even in the January thaw , but here, with bugs and allergies, I have to be very careful! xo

This is actually a really good subject. I've been using a couple of the classic wooden drying racks for years, I probably got them from Walmart, they fold up, but I keep them open all the time, as I usually partially dry my heavier clothes, then let them "finish" drying on the rack. I like to get the wrinkles out in the dryer, about 10 minutes or so, then take them out. I think clothing lasts longer that way, plus of course the energy savings.
     My younger sister lives in Madrid, Spain, & they have a nice place with a washing machine, but apparently it's fairly normal not to have a dryer over there, so she has used a really unique rack for years. She has to iron though. I'm allergic to ironing. Her rack sounds like the ones you describe from Ikea, it's really space saving.
    I do remember growing up with my mother drying clothes out on the line. They always smelled so good. She had to spend time ironing too, as back then everything wrinkled.
