A week or so ago DD and I were where else? in our favorite thrift shop when I came across some really gorgeous china. Orange and black flower design, looks very old fashioned but who knows whether it is or not. It made me think of having high tea in Vicrtorian London. Once I made that connection, of course I could not leave it behind, even though I really have no use for another set of china.
So I bought all of it and brought it home. I finally finished unpacking it tonight to put on a shelf. It is marked Takara by a company called Liling. I have looked on replacement service sites to find it but had no luck until I found a company with a similar sounding name, they spelled it Cakara. I clicked to look at it and it is indeed the same pattern. A cup and saucer are going for $15. I added everything up as I unpacked it and realized I paid $13.40, plus tax, for 7 dinner plates, 6 bowls, 7 cups, 8 saucers and 6 salad plates, plus serving bowl and a very large serving platter.
Not bad. I feel like making some scones and having a cup of tea.
Here is a link to the pattern.
