Oooooooooooooooooooooooo, Good Buddy, your day sounds FANTASTIC!!!!!
Congrats to you and Cookie for makin' a clean sweep of "The City Beautiful". I guess there must be some truth to that old adage: "The early birds catch the worms"

Kudos on the sewing machine (I know how Cookie loves them), Pyrexia, (do you know what pattern, or is it a solid color?), the groovy Catwoman Ornament (growl! I love Catwoman!), your weather book, and all your other treasures.
It must be in the Zeitgeist, 'cause:
Today,
I got up at 7 AM and DH and I stumbled into a church sale (albeit at 9 AM, after the sale had been going on for almost 2 hours) where within 30 seconds I found a minty Vera scarf for .10. That's right, one thin dime, and then DH found an "Ireland" baseball cap for me dear ole' stepfahther for .50. On to the church store where we found a Hugh Montenegro album entitled "Arriba!" of flamenico music (it must be old...the catalog card inside the album doesn't even have a zip code on it) and I found a vintage Liz Claiborne dress in BRIGHT ORANGE for One Dollar! And it matches my ten-cent Vera perfectly! I couldn't have planned it more perfectly if I tried; and it's only 9:30 AM,for gosh sakes!
But our find of the day:
We're at one thrift beachside and it's getting hotter than Hades...the furniture there is kept in metal storage sheds while a new thriftstore building is being prepared. We look in the sheds and nothing catches our eyes...but as I walk away, I notice what is holding open one of the shed doors...it is one of those metal kitchen step stools from the 40s-50s with the drop-down stairs. Did I mention the metal was a corroded mess, but the grey swirly vinyl on the chair (which, coincidentally, matches my kitchen table and chairs) was in very decent condition? I showed it to DH and he checked it for level-ness, sturdi-ness, mechanical capabilities, etc. and all checked out great. So we asked the churchladies how much? 'cause it wasn't marked. And we're at a church, so I was not about to make an offer. They said, "Gosh we don't know. It's been outside holding open the doors here. How about five bucks?" DH said OK, and the deal was struck!
So, instead of going out this afternoon, causing mayhem and spending money foolishly, DH said, "Give me a football game on the radio, and I'll clean up this stool today!" and , after lunch, that's exactly what he did. I wish I had taken "before" shots, because the way that stool cleaned up is unnbelievable. After three hours with "Never Dull", it looks like a much newer chair. I am ~thrilled~. Being height-challenged, this will be a real asset for me in my everyday life and the fact that it is authentic and matches my kitchen is just the
icing!

PS: While looking for a sale today, Peter and I got lost...and wound up at NOAA, Good Buddy! Are you into weather (as your purchase of the weather book might indicate)? DH is. I teased him today and told him that since we found the local location, I was going to call and see if I could get him a tour of the place
