One of the things I look for while out treasure hunting are travel scarves, the kinds that show a map of Paris or London with landmarks shown on them.  The other day I lucked out.  I found about five in my favorite thrift.  One of them however was a little more than just atourist souvenir.
It was from Czechoslovakia (sp?) and on it was the map of the country and a story about how the country was given to the Nazis in appeasement in 1938 and how grateful the Czech people were to the armies of the US, Great Britian an the USSR for freeing them from Nazi occupationand how at last the Czech people were free and how truth now prevailed. .  It has a date on it of  1946. Sad to realize that 2 years later the country was under Soviet dominance and the Czech people had lost thier hard won freedom.
I really wish I knew the story of how it came to this country. The scarf says it was made in Czechoslovakia.  And I paid less than $1 for it.  A sad history lesson.
Just thought I would share with those who will understand.

That is a wonderful find!  My grandfather was from Czech, and came over here in 1904 - would love to find something like that, so "family history" oriented!

OK, as soon as I get get DS to transfer all his photos from his NM trip  from my camera's memory card to a DVD or flash drive and get DD to settle down long enough to help me figure out how to post it online.  I can figure out how to take the photo myself:)  Not a total techie idiot anyway.
