The food bank thrift created a Christmas room in a previously unused space earlier this month which has provided a little more excitement in my daily thrifting.  They may keep it open year round too!

Holiday collectibles are my fav, especially Christmas & Halloween, but I never find any good vintage Halloween stuff, even at church sales which really surprises me.  I have collected quite a bit of old Christmas stuff now though, so I have been choosy lately.  This means passing up boxes of Shiny Brites which I would have never done before.

So far I have picked up a few Christmas goodies including a box of Shiny Brites for a buck which I bought for the box because it was in almost perfect condition & good for display.   Also some spun cotton figures and large Polish ornaments with daisies & roses as I don't have too many ornaments with flowers.

My fav was an old Italian diorama ornament that is hand blown glass with little bubbles and inside is a scene with a deer & bottle brush trees.

Anyone else collect holiday stuff?

I've actually never given it much thought. Whenever I see Christmas stuff at thrifts or garage sales, I always walk by because I never get into that mood until Christmas-time. I do like ornaments though. I like to check out the new Hallmark collections every year... I have every single Harry Potter ornament they've put out so far! But I don't have anything vintage. My grandma has some old stuff she puts on her tree every year, similar to the glass bulbs you posted pics of, and she has some little elves like the figures you have.

My daughter would like the Harry Potter ornaments, I got some Harry Potter Christmas lights years ago on clearance at Sears.  Some Hallmark ornaments become quite valuable over time, I have sold quite a few from the 80's & 90's that have done well.  I am sure some of the older Harry Potter ones have already become collectable.  I have picked up quite a few Fancy Feast ornaments (Fancy Feast cat food puts out an ornament every year http://fancyfeast.com/_res/pdf/PDF_OrderForm.pdf )  at thrifts, they have been making them for over 20 years now.  I may put them up on Ebay one of these years, they have gone for good prices in the past, I haven't checked the auction prices lately.

Found this Napcoware turkey planter at the food bank thrift for a buck a few weeks ago, maybe a little early for turkeys, but I don't have alot of good Halloween stuff.  I put out my Johnson Bros. Windsor Fruit plates that I got last month for 89 cents each at the SA so I thought they needed some fall accesorries.

Last summer I found the Prof Snape ornament at my fav. thrift for $1.  He was always my favorite HP character.  Love it.  He sneered at me all thru Christmas and I look forward to seeing him again this
Christmas.  DD wants him but she will have to wait till I croak to get him.  I don't think DH will fight her for him:)

I had more good luck in the Christmas room at the food bank thrift.  I discovered that there were boxes of stuff waiting to go out under the tables of the already displayed items, so I have been picking through those & getting first dibs on the good stuff.  Yesterday I got a box of huge old Polish ormaments with nice colors for a buck, today I found a vintage apron for the same.  I also went to a church & nursing home sale and found a vintage Burberry umbrella and LuRay s & p shakers for a buck each & a Holt Howard Christmas planter for a quarter.

The nursing home has sales several times a year and always has a big 10 cent table, which is fun to pick through.  I found a bunch of 70's Tupperware cereal bowls & juice tumblers which I couln't resist for 10 cents!  They also have free books & puzzles, I always take a few nice Springbok ones.

Thanks, the planter was from the nursing home sale where everything I got was either 10 cents or 25 cents, it really spoiled me for the sales I went to after that.  I was looking at stuff for a dollar and wishing they were cheaper!

Got this cute pair of Christmas candle holders for $1.75 at the food bank thrift.  So great to get a matching pair, I usually see orphaned candlesticks!

I love yours finds. I very rarely find any vintage Christmas things. i do have a small box that is almost full from finding through out the year.  My stores are starting to put out Christmas displays but most of the stuff is "made in china" things.

The Salvation Army has has nothing for Christmas stuff lately, I got one tear shaped Polish ornament there yesterday for 10 cents, but other than that nothing of late.  The food bank thrift has been the only thrift with anything decent lately.  I found a small Coach bag in good condition for 2 bucks yesterday.  They ran out of good vintage stuff in the Christmas room for the most part, but I find something here & there.  The cashier looked at me funny when I bought this platic Mr & Mrs Snowman, but I thought they were cute!

I hit the jackpot today for Christmas ornaments!  Some new donations came into the food bank thrift & I got a smaller box of vintage aluminum tree plastic ornaments & figures for a buck & a big box of Shiny brites, including some pinecone-like shapes that I haven't found before.  Yesterday I found a bag of metallic stenciled bells for 89 cents at the Sal Army.  I also got a brand new glass tea pot with infuser and tea for $1.99 at the Sal Army today, so five bucks for everything!
