recently i met an older lady at a thrift store we began a conversation and i told her my love for 50s furniture and vintage clothing. she explained her sister had passed away and she had alot of her clothes and things. gave her my number she called me and i went over there. she had so much stuff . i guess she kept everything. theres some 50's sweater sets. mod dresses bell bottoms  leisure suits lots oof dresses with funky 60s prints.  gloves. i paid 40 bucks for it all . im still not threw the boxes. i also got a funky red mid century  chair.  i even got 4 shoe boxes full of vintage scarves. mostly dresses so far in the box they all have great prints and colors. i hope must of them fit me.

Great find!  My daughter also loves vintage clothes and would be drooling!
We were at my sister's over the week-end and my aunt brought over a box of old photos.  All my daughter talked about was the cool clothes and how to get the same look now.  My aunt was not amused.

I would love to share the photos. just been so busy this week with picking up the furniture from the auction. cleaning and reorganzing my garage to make room  for the stuff  i bought. i bought some 1950s bedroom furniture back in march for my sons room  i finally moved it in there minus the bed bc i thought it was atwin and its a full gotta buy a full size mattress.  but the chest of drawers and the dresser look great. its a cute set it has the splayed legs on it . i paid 75 bucks for it at a thrift store. its suppose to snow here tonite so i didnt finish  going through the cloths but so far theres some cute pieces. in a way i wouldnt mind making some funky pillows with some of the dresses. dont know if i have the heart to cut them. havent found any holes or stains so far.  .  ive loved vintage clothing since middle school.  by the way anyone have any tips for cleaning the chrome on the formica table? also the vinyl chairs?

Jeannie what era of vintage  clothes does your daughter enjoy the most?  i loves looking at my moms old photos from the late 60s to the mid 70s. i wish she had kept most of her clothes.

She especially seems to like clothes from the 40s-50s' and 60s but will take any she finds.  Her Easter dress this year was a big flowery print with a crinoline skirt from about the 80s? maybe.  She isn't picky.  She is a costume design student in college so that has a lot to do with it.
We were estate saling this past summer and came on a sale where a family was cleaning out Mom's house.  Apparently Mom was an excellent seamstress with a good eye and expensive taste in fabric.  All her clothes were marked $.25.  So DD stocked up on vintage clothes to wear and got lessons in garment construction as well.

that sale sounds good. great finds for 25 cents. i love garage sales when they aree cleanng out the house. ive got many a good thing like fire king pyrex  jewelry for next to nothing.  i wish i could sew so i could alter these pieces. my sister said i should put some on etsy along with some of my other finds there. i might give it a try. i cant wait till spring so the yard sales start back up. i like hitting the older neighborhoods.
