Wends is my SA's 50% off day, and of course I ended up with a lot of stuff that wasn't half off, but still.

I've needed a new pair of running shoes but really didn't want to spend the cash, and I found a pair today, barely worn, for 3 dollars.  I love it when the thrift store give me exactly what I need.

I put back a tea kettle that I really liked because it was pricey and I already have 2 tea kettles (it was copper with a ceramic handle...I should have bought it).  If it's there next week I'll buy it.  (I hid it on the top shelf behind a bunch of junk...)

Best buys were for my sister.  She's having a baby in september and I got her a swing, car seat, and stroller for just under a hundred dollars all together.  Everyone is supposed to be chipping in to buy her all she needs, but I keep finding everything for cheap first!  I also got a bag of winnie the pooh and beatrix potter books for a dollar.

It's a great haul, it sounds like.

The teapot sounds great too-- here's hoping it will be waiting for you upon your return.

Congrats on the running shoes!  They're tough to find in good condition.

I'd be careful with the car seat, however.  Many thrifts won't sell them because of liability concerns.  Is it in perfect condition?  Is it on a manufacturer's recall list?  Better to be safe than thrifty when it comes to baby stuff.  Some police/fire departments will inspect/install infant car seats, so you might want to include that in your gift if it's available in your area.

Wow, Mattie, that is excellent advice. I am so glad you included it here for us all to be aware when we are buying stuff for the wee ones!

Found 1/2 of a pink Lu Ray butter dish today at the food bank thrift(the pink Lu Ray lid with a similar period mismatch bottom, maybe Homer Laughlin).  The butter dish is pretty hard to find, so for one dollar, I'll take the top for now.

The local SA is still overpriced, so nothing there.  They have spruced up the place though and have added satalite radio.  Listening to Echo & the Bunnymen (the Killing Moon) while shopping was worth going in there for.  Smiley

Congrats on the Lu Ray!  Do you know, I didn't know anything about Lu Ray until you started chatting it up here. So, thank you... Grin

Yeah, I know what you mean about the great radio some thrifts have. One I go to has satallite also, and sometimes it's tuned to the "oldies" station. I love hearing music that I have not heard in 30-40 years.  Not like the reg oldies radio stations which play the same ten oldies all the time (yawn!) The better the music is, the longer I shop Wink Wink
