There are a few audio buffs on this forum, you guys can compare notes.  I would love to find a Yamaha turntable to go with the 70's era Yamaha Natural Sound receiver & amplifier i found last spring at the Salvation Army (some speakers would be nice too).  I bought the Lane side table I just posted about to house these pieces and really want to play some records!

I was thinking about the guys on this list this past weekend when a local Vinnies had 2 tvs available cheap.  They were clear plastic - showing all the inner workings.  I wanted to bring one home but DH said I'd be walking and carrying it. There were also 2 clear transistor radios.  My first thought was they belonged to twins, but I have not decided why the "clear" theme.

The clear plastic electronics sound interesting !!  I am more into
radio/audio electronics, radios, hifi equipment.  I am looking for
some turntables especially JVC turntables, if anyone happens accross any decent turntables that they don't want let me know
what  you find ?

Catch up with you later,

YAY I finally get to share this info I gleaned with someone who knows what I am talking about!

I saw one of these in a Reno Pawn Shop. The Pawn Shop also had one that was clear, but made of green plastic. I had never seen one before, and I too was curious.

It turns out that the reason they are clear is because they are made for people in prison.  It's so they can't use it to hide contraband.  Once they buy it, it's theirs outright, and so you will occasionally see one at pawn shops and thrift stores.

I wish I could have bought the green one.  But unfortunately, I was on a bus trip to Reno.  So not only would I have to carry it to the hotel, but would have also had to travel a couple of hundred miles with it on my lap!

By the way, not stereo equipment, but I also collect older keyboards (Casios, Yamahas, kids keyboards) and kids noise toys, and other various older electronic stuff for use in making music and noise.  I also collect old tape decks, Walkmans, and radios for the same reason.

I just got an EIKI cassette deck at our local GoodWill As Is shop, that has seven headphone outs.  It's mono, but it works so well.  Three bucks.  They had more and I'm thinking about getting another one.

SEVEN headphone outs?! Must be an educational model. I bet the sound is surprisingly decent.
