Treasure hunting pirate when not being an R.N.

sad eyes dolls are inexpensive and oh so cute.  Original 1972 Blythe dolls however are currently over-the-top expensive...we're talking $200 for one missing clothing and hair tangled..one in great shape can run the bidding close to $1000. so i keep to the new ones that run me $80 buck or so...i am looking forward to the day i'm at a garage sale and find a vintage one on the toy box for a dollar.  aprons in robin's egg blue and red are my love, those and hankies in these colors.  they are easy to decorate with, hanging them from a clothes line for a window treatment and the like...i really collect anything that catches my eye....probably the same for you all....pop_pirate Wink

I didn't know what Susie Sad Eyes looked like so I searched on ebay.  I don't remember these dolls.  But I don't think I would have liked playing with her as a kid.  She doesn't look sad...she looks scary.  So I can see why you like them in your collection.

I haven't seen these a thrifts, but I DO occasionally run into prints of Sad-Eyed Children in the thrift stores. They usually disappear pretty quickly, I notice.

i sure wished i lived in an area where the Margaret Keane big eyed children prints showed up in the thrift stores!! susie sad eyes dolls are a riff on those pieces done by the prolific artist.  well, that's the thrill of the hunt...pop pirate
