Most of the things I buy from thrift stores are clothing and accessories.  I have bought other things from furniture to cookware to craft supplies to books.  But my main interest is clothing & accessories.

I am always on the lookout for clothes to wear to work, we have to *dress up* 4 days a week and Im a harley shirt and jeans kinda gal...its hard to find clothes sometimes, Im one of those lovely plus size gals...:} I always look for harley tees too, no matter what size, I plan to make a quilt with all harley tees one day. Always look at the jewelery and purses, and the more I come to this site the more different things I look for now then when I used to at the Thrift stores and yard sales and any other thrifty adventure!

I LOVE your idea of a Harley quilt!

I always look at purses and jewelry. Scarves, too. They are all my fatal weaknesses when thrifting. I have five plastic containers of handbags--99% of them thrifted. I love the thrill of the hunt. Though the other day, I did a good thing--a thrift store customer admired the purse I found, so I gave it to her to buy because I just couldn't bear bringing another one home. She was thrilled--it was only a buck!--and I made a new friend, too.

I do! I do! I thrift a variety of things, from collectibles, to scarves like you Seso , to clothes, shoes, handbags, books etc. I have an over abundance of clothes and shoes though! I love the bargain aspect of it and the thrill of the hunt, especially for name brand things or designer things, to know that I only acquired something for 50 cents or 1.00 when the value is so much more just makes me lightheaded and I get such a rush, now doing something with the things I acquire or wearing something is totally different, sometimes I give away things that I bought in the "moment" thinking I would wear them or sometimes I see something and think "oh I'll redesign it or turn it into something else, etc" but like so many people I get sooooo time challenged, so all these things I acquired will have to wait until Iam retired so I can finally do 'something" with them! LOL! Oceangurl, don't run out of house before you retire!

But you have such a great eye and you find such great stuff, you just can't walk away, now, can you?

I don't remember if I posted this, but a few weeks ago, I found this incredible vintage 80s Furla bag in excellent vintage condition. It was, of course, at one of the Catholic thrifts in the area--fortunately not near my home, so I can't get there too often and spend all of SpaceCadet's hard-earned $$$$ Roll Eyes Roll Eyes. It was 8 bucks, but the store was having a 20% off sale, so how could I refuse? I had gotten a handbag very similar to it for my mom about 20 years ago, on deeeeeeeeeeeeeep discount from Macy's, but it got ruined when her house got flooded a few years ago, so I am going to send her this one. She's thrilled!

I don't spend a lot of time looking at clothes and accessories, but I have gotten some good stuff.  Recently, I got a pristine pair of salmon-colored Chuck Taylor Oxfords for a whopping $7.  I also picked up a way cool vintage wood Walborg handbag.  I cannot walk away from a vintage hat.  Years ago, I got a Saks Fifth Ave straw hat with fake fruit on it.  It's definitely from the 1950s and tres chic.  I wear it whenever I'm invited to a daytime wedding.

Yowza, that hat sounds divine! It must look so elegant. I can imagine it with a longer dress, maybe bias-cut and the color of flowers running in the rain--like water-colors. I bet you look smashing!

Groovy find on the Wahlborg, too--in wood, no less. Good one!!

I love reading your stories about how you get funky handbags and vera scarves.  I look but they all seem old and grubby at our local Goodwill, but as I said before we have a gang of hardcore thrifters that seem in the know as to what is coming out and when, god forbid you got there before them.  I wonder if anything that good makes it to the sales floor here.
I do buy funky mens stuff for my oldest boy, and I am currently into the wardrobe refashion idea so attempt to cut up and make big tshirts look stylish..........alas so far nothing is that nice that I feel I can wear it in public. but one day if I keep trying I will nail it!
I buy pyrex currently but sure that wont last long as I havent got a big enough kitchen and I have a rule to try and love the stuff I have and use it in everyday life.  I allways buy fleece blankets or bedding for my dogs, they are better kitted out than the kids!! I never understand how people go to the big pet chains and spend a fortune when you can get some really good bedding that can be adapted for much less money.
oh yeah I allways look at the jewellry pins for my daughter, she wears them on her cap and I have to say she gets a lot of comments and her cap looks pretty good........  unfortunately the first one she had got nicked when she was at High School.....oh well, thats life.
 Happy Thrifting.

My favorite handbag that i found at Goodwill is a brown leather drawstring bag from Fossil. It was in excellent condition when I bought her and she is big and roomy enough to carry the kitchen sink in.I wouldn't trade her in for all of the tea in China.

I like a number of different purses, but I'm not fond of Coach or Dooney & Burke purses.  They seem to have lost their "mystic" because now everyone has one.   Too common place.

I like Fossil but have not seen any at thrift stores.  I have bought a couple of Fossils at Macy's and Younker's for half price.

My best thrift finds for purses so far has been a black Sak that I found at Goodwill for $9.  It retails for over $100.  It was in mint condition.  I've also bought Nine West and Liz Claiborne purses at Goodwill this summer.

For me, I would get really excited if I found a genuine Christian Dior, Gucci, Cole Haan or Prada bag at a thrift store!   Shocked

"style" i like punk rock style levis and dickies pants, carharts etc. etc. but the local thriftstores in my town are often picked clean very fast. i did manange however to snag a nice vintage pabst blue ribbon shirt from value village before they got it ! Smiley
