it's really something to consider the hunt that took place over the years to get teh set together... in particular it made me think of the different places each piece came from... different parts of the country (or world in some instances) each "set" was with different families...different lives... different stories...

anyway you get the picture.... it's almost better having a "compiled" collect then the straight ahead set...

 IKWYM about conversations over the dinnerware.   A few years back my husband was working on a remodel of a high class famous hotel in the city.   They were throwing away their "old" silver and getting new; he asked and they gave him a bunch of it - I always wonder what celebrities used the pieces I have when I use them......

Wow, talk about wasteful! Glad your husband was there to rescue some of it. Imagine something still useful and with an interesting past headed for the landfill.
