Kitchen Stuff

I''m addicted to kitchen collectibles! I started out with a few cookie cutters from the local thrift, now my collection includes several hundred in steel, tin, aluminum, and plastic. I keep trying to find a cool way to display them, but right now all I do is put them in huge glass cookie jars that sit on my counter.  I also started collecting old cookbooks, especially the ones with nifty graphics and product advertisments. I''ve got about 75 of those now. My most recent kitchen collectible is those old crocheted potholders. They''re so pretty and come in a great variety of colors and patterns. One of the coolest ones I''ve thrifted is a "black face" from the 40s. Ok, so it''s a little politically incorrect, but it''s just so dang unusual!

Cookie and I LOVE kitchen stuff. I''m constantly finding neat little one job gadgets and appliances and we have amassed too much for our very very tiny kitchen.
We too collect cookbooks with groovy graphics. I just bough a cookbook for kids from 1947 called, "Fun with Cooking, Easy Recipes for Beginners" It''s still got it''s dust cover and had about 15 recipes that kids can do with beautiful black and white photographs.
In regards to displaying your cookie cutters, have you though about putting up a board with rows of inch long pegs about 5 inches apart. You could put uo 100 or so and change them with the seasons and such. Just a though.

Gosh, when am I not buying kitchen stuff??? Actually this afternoon, I had to put down and old hand mixer -- because I was going over budget with what I already had in my arms.  Today, I picked up another teapot.  We have a big kitchen at home, along with the galley in the travel trailer -- which gives me even more reasons to grab what I find. I happen to think that one can never have enough teapots!

I''m glad this topic came up, because I have a clothing re-engineering project on deck that is kitchen related.  I was in the SA to pick up skirts, which I am going to transform into aprons.  Of course, I picked up queen sizes -- so I''d get more fabric for the money.  Some of the sewing (most of the cutting) is already done.   

I love aprons too...
